Free Flying for 8 Red Coins is a mission in the Shifting Sand Land course in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. In Super Mario 64, the mission is the fifth in the course, though in Super Mario 64 DS, it is the seventh and final mission. While the star number changed, the name and objective of the mission, collecting the course's eight Red Coins, did not, nor did the locations of the Red Coins themselves.

Template:Missionbox Free Flying for 8 Red Coins is a mission in the Shifting Sand Land course in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. In Super Mario 64, the mission is the fifth in the course, though in Super Mario 64 DS, it is the seventh and final mission. While the Star number changed, the name and objective of the mission, collecting the course's eight Red Coins, did not, nor did the locations of the Red Coins themselves.

Layout

There are eight Red Coins scattered over Shifting Sand Land, four of which are on land and the other four are in the air, requiring the use of the Wing Cap. As such, this mission can only be completed with Mario (or someone wearing Mario's cap) in Super Mario 64 DS. Additionally, none of the Red Coins are located within the pyramid. The location of the eight Red Coins are:

 • Behind the player's starting position at the end of a narrow path
 • In one of the Blocks at the stone structure
 • In the center of the maze-like paths in the quicksand
 • In the oasis
 • The other four are located in the air
