In the game, Mario is in his own world called, Subcon where an evil tyrant named Wart seeks to destroy all. Mario once again teams up with Luigi, and for the first time ever, Toad and Princess Peach tag along also. Thanks to Doki Doki Panic, such characters as Shy Guy, Birdo, Bob-Bomb, and Pidgit were born into the Mario World and are used today.
