The Delfino Emergency Broadcast System has made two appearances. It was first seen in Super Mario Sunshine, where it would appear in the form of words on a black background on the bottom of the screen in Delfino Plaza. Its next (and last) appearance was Mario Power Tennis, where it appeared in the Tic Tac Glow mini-game as one of the game's generic advice messages, although labeled "D.E.B.S." (in a considerably different font than the one used in Super Mario Sunshine). In both of these appearances, it has worked similar to a news ticker.

An example of an alert from D.E.B.S. as seen in Super Mario Sunshine.
A Delfino Emergency Broadcast System alert.

The Delfino Emergency Broadcast System, also known as D.E.B.S. (its acronym), is Isle Delfino's instant warning/news system. As such, it gives the island's local Piantas, Nokis, and Tanookis (as well as any visitors, such as Mario) notations about various happenings around the island, including current events or recent disasters. While it usually gives hints, these hints are very subtle; for instance, the portal to Bianco Hills is hinted at with the alert that "several people have gone missing near the Grand Pianta Statue", subtly referencing the fact that the graffiti on the statue can take one to another world.
