In the beginning, there is a Diggin' Chuck and a red-shelled Winged Koopa Troopa. After that the player will find another Diggin' Chuck next to a blue Warp Pipe and a Yellow ! Block. Then there is some lava and more Winged Koopa Troopas, followed by a green Warp Pipe and a ? Block that contains a Vine. If the player goes down the Warp Pipe, there will be an icy cavern with one Dragon Coin, a few Spike Tops and Cheep Cheeps that swim in the water. There is also a ? Block that contains a Super Mushroom or a Cape Feather. On the other side there is another Warp Pipe that backtracks to the blue Warp Pipe that they saw before.

Up the Vine, the player will find a ? block that contains a Yoshi. The player can either choose to dive down the small pit, or to break the Rotating Blocks to go down. There is a hidden 1-Up Mushroom if the player chooses to go down the yellow blocks. Later, the player will find the Midway Gate, and many more Diggin' Chucks.

Near the end, there is a Key behind a wall. The player must use Yoshi to get the Key. The Keyhole leads to Star Road, and Star World 5 and the Front Door of Bowser's Castle. If the player chooses to go through the Goal Post, they will gain access to #7 Larry's Castle.
