Template:Minigame-infobox Whomp-a-thon is a 4-player and a duel minigame in Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on the word "marathon".

Gameplay

In the game, the players are standing in a sandpit with four Whomps. The Whomps will randomly move along the side they are on and fall down, attempting to smash the players into the ground.

One can tell if the Whomp is going to fall because it will start to shake when about to fall. When some time has passed, more than one Whomp will make the notion that it's going to fall, and the first one to shake will fall. However, if they start shaking at the same time, any one of them will randomly fall. When a player is smashed by a Whomp they will leave a hole shaped like their character in the sand blocking the other player's way. The last player still standing, or those still standing when the timer ends, win the minigame. The minigame is also featured in the Score Scuffle mode. Here, however, the game ends when the 30 second timer is met, or when all players were smashed into the ground.

When the game ends, any player left will be seen in the box where the game is set, doing their victory dance. If any players did not manage to win, the spot where their shape was will be as if they never got hit there.
