Gills V is Captain Gills' fourth born son from Super Paper Mario. Being the youngest of the family, he swims at his own pace and peeks at his siblings: Gills Jr., Gills II, Gills III, and Gills IV as they follow their father around the underground canal.
Like all of his siblings, he is being raised as a carnivore.
