Shadows are powerful black phantoms that reside in Kero Sewers in the game Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Shadows usually fight in groups of two to four, sometimes accompanied by Rat Funks. Like Boos, Shadows have the ability to hover in the air.

In a fight, a Shadow will pound Mario's allies with its massive forelimbs, or shoot a physical energy blast at a party member. Additionally, these phantoms know the special attack Endobubble, inducing the Fear status ailment in one party member. A Shadow's yellow eyes always flash red when they are attacking. Since they are undead, Shadows can be instantaneously destroyed with Pure Water.

Shadows are related to the Doppels found in Smithy's dimension.
