Mario and Luigi first bumped into Friendly Floyd at Yoshi Village, where he had been trying to sell items such as toothbrushes and light bulbs to the Yoshis, which they had no use for. There he told the Bros. that Bowser had kidnapped several of the villagers and had sealed Yoshi in an egg when he attempted to fight back. Mario tried to hire him to act as their translator, so they could understand what Yoshi was saying. Later, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Toad ran into Friendly Floyd again when he was trying to sell lipstick to a Piranha Plant. He was convinced by Luigi to help them defeat The Koopalings. He supplied bombs to the group and helped in the battle too. Later on when Princess Toadstool blew up Bowser's Tower he, after saying goodbye, took off again.
