Yoshi's Super Dragon in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Super Dragon is Yoshi's Final Smash in both Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, based on Yoshi's shell-based abilities in Super Mario World. Yoshi sprouts a pair of wings, granting him flight. He can ram into opponents, damaging them. Yoshi also automatically breathes short bursts of fire, but can also spit a larger fireball that travels across the screen by pressing an attack button; in Super Smash Bros. Brawl they explode on contact, while in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, they pass through opponents.

He is more mobile and powerful, but the inertia makes movement quirky, so it takes some skill to master flight. Yoshi returns to a normal state after a set period of time has passed.

Trivia

  • The name also originates from Super Mario World; in the Japanese version the Message Block at Yoshi's House is signed "Super Dragon Yoshi", which was changed to simply "Yoshi" in the English releases; in the remake Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, however, once the game is cleared the text is signed "Super Dragon Yoshi" in all versions.
  • On the trophy for this move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Yoshi's saddle is missing.
