A Hard Block is one of the many blocks in the Mario universe. Hard blocks are most commonly used to make stairs that Mario, Toad, or Luigi can climb. Unlike ? Blocks and Brick Blocks, Hard blocks cannot contain anything. Hard Blocks can be destroyed with a Bob-omb's explosion, Super Mario Bros. 3's Bowser, and Mega Mario. In Super Mario Maker, giant Koopa shells can also break hard blocks, along with giant Thwomps.
Hard Blocks have first appeared in Super Mario Bros. and different variations have appeared in every Super Mario title (except for Super Mario Sunshine) ever since.
