Egg Lay is Yoshi's neutral special move in the Super Smash Bros. series. Based on Yoshi's ability to turn enemies into eggs in the Yoshi series, Yoshi sticks out his tongue to grab opponents, and if he grabs one he swallows them and lays an egg with the opponent trapped inside and open to attack; the amount of time they are trapped is increased the higher their damage is, though they can escape more quickly by mashing buttons.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U Egg Lay has two custom variants. The first is Lick, in which Yoshi leaps forward and attacks with his tail rather than laying an egg. The second is Egg Launch, in which Yoshi lays an egg that flies away, but opponents are able to escape more quickly.
