- In the Japan-only Nintendo Direct aired on May 31, 2015, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games was announced for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Famicom Remix: Best Choice was also announced to be released in Japan for Nintendo 3DS on August 27, 2015. Super Mario Galaxy and a new installment in the Dr. Mario series Dr. Mario Gyakuten! Tokkouyaku & Saikin Bokumetsu were released on the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS respectively in Japan after the presentation.
- Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition (pictured) was released in the Americas on May 22, 2015, in Europe on May 8, 2015, in South Korea on May 1, 2015, and in Japan on April 29, 2015.
