- In the Japan-only Nintendo Direct aired on May 31, 2015, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games were announced for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. A new installment in the Famicom Remix series for the Nintendo 3DS (titled Famicom Remix: Best Choice in Japan) was also announced to be released in Japan on August 27, 2015. Super Mario Galaxy and a new installment in the Dr. Mario series were released on the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS respectively in Japan shortly after the presentation.
