Similar to the other coin-collecting minigames in the Mario Party series, the goal of the player is to collect the most coins within the time limit. Unlike what the in-game instructions imply, everyone keeps the coins they collect, rather than there being a single winner. A total of three rows of Brick Blocks move from left to right; however, these blocks are not just for collecting coins but are also used as platforms. As in a typical side-scroller, the player is restricted to only moving left and right, rather than in all directions like most other minigames. The rows of blocks stop moving every now and then and start moving in the opposite direction a few seconds later. The players can use this to climb to higher rows of bricks. If players step off one side of the screen, they will appear on the other side in a similar way to Mario Bros. gameplay.

Template:Spotlight-notice Template:Minigame-infobox Coin Cache is a coin-collecting 4-Player minigame found in Mario Party 5.

Intro

The four players exit Princess Peach's Castle in the background and run onto the stage itself.

Gameplay

The goal of this minigame is to collect as many coins as possible by smashing the Brick Blocks that contains them. Despite what the rules states, all the players win the minigame provided that they collect one coin..

There are three types of blocks in this minigame:

 • The first one is the usual Brick Block which contains nothing and is destroyed when hit.
 • The second one contains a single coin and transforms into a Used Block when hit.
 • The third and rarest type contains multiple coins. It may be hit once per coin until it is empty, when it turns into a Used Block.

A total of three rows of Brick Blocks move from left to right; and can also be used as platforms to reach higher blocks. The rows of blocks stop moving every now and then and start moving in the opposite direction a few seconds later. The players can use this to climb to higher rows of bricks. If players step off one side of the screen, they will appear on the other side in a similar way to Mario Bros. gameplay.

Ending

The players perform their victory animations wherever they are.
