Smokey may have been set to make a reappearance in the canceled game Donkey Kong Racing; as Taj the Genie, a character from Diddy Kong Racing, was going to appear in it. It is unknown if Smokey was going to appear in Diddy Kong Racing's canceled Game Boy Advance sequel, Diddy Kong Pilot.
Smokey appears in Diddy Kong Racing DS which has him with a new voice and now he is an easy foe. He produces no fireballs on the first race and only a few in the rematch.
