Mega Man, Dr. Light and Mario trying to catch Wario in the Club Nintendo comic.

Mega Man is the protagonist of a famous video game series of the same name. He also made appearances in the Mario series, but only in the Club Nintendo comics.

In 1992, he was introduced in "Super Mario: Die Bescherung". In this comic, he joins Mario and Luigi's Christmas party, without affecting the story in any way. His first and only major appearance was in the 1993 comic "Super Mario: Die Verwandlung", where he served as Dr. Light's assistant. Besides taking care of the doctor and welcoming his visitors, Mega Man also drives the car they use for catching Wario.

After twenty years of not appearing in any Mario-related media, Mega Man was confirmed to be a playable guest character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Mega Man's appearance in this game is based on his appearance in the NES titles, and he has a moveset centered on shooting his opponents; he can use his trademark Mega Buster to fire multiple single shots or charge a single shot. His only melee attacks are the slide move, making its debut in Mega Man 3, and the Mega Upper, a move introduced in Mega Man: The Power Fighters and later appeared in Marvel vs. Capcom. His recovery is the Rush Coil, a common ability in the Mega Man series that is introduced in Mega Man 3. He can also use the various Robot Master abilities that have appeared, such as the Metal Blade, Top Spin, Slash Claw, Hard Knuckle, Crash Bomber, Flame Sword, Leaf Shield, Spark Shot, and Flame Blast.[1]
