The Dark Prognosticus is a book of prophecies in Super Paper Mario. At the beginning of this powerful object is a warning text: anyone who has possessed the book has never found happiness. Count Bleck wants to use this book in hopes of "destroying all worlds".
Over the years, many have fought over it. Entire countries have fallen. Ironically, the fall of these countries were already predicted in the book itself.
Somewhere in the Dark Prognosticus, it states that, "the man in red shall weild formidable powers, one shall stand against him. The man in green shall use the Chaos Heart's power to bring darkness to all."
The Light Prognosticus was created to counter this book.
