- In the latest Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata announced Yarn Yoshi, (pictured) a new Mario Kart and a 3D Super Mario title in development for Wii U, with the latter two to be shown at E3 2013. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be also shown at E3.
- Nintendo has announced that Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon will be released on March 24, 2013 in North America, and on March 20, 2013 in Japan.
- Super Mario Bros. 3 was released on the 3DS Virtual Console in Japan on January 1, 2013.
- Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels was released on the 3DS Virtual Console in North America, Europe and Australia on December 27, 2012.
