Plot

This article is under construction. Therefore, please excuse its informal appearance while it is being worked on. We hope to have it completed as soon as possible.

Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad run through the Wild Wild West in a chariot pulled by Ostros, as they are chased by several Snifits and King Koopa riding on other Ostros. King Koopa draws a Piranha Plant from his pocket and aims it at the Mario bros., and the Snifits do the same thing. Mario goes to the back of the chariot, grabs a Cobrat and uses it to fire at the Koopa pack. A Snifit gets on the chariot, just to be beaten up and defeated by the plumber. King Koopa shoots a fireball at the ropes that Luigi is using to control the Ostros. They go in a different direction, heading to a cliff. Trying to brake, the Mario bros. destroy the wheels, and slide down the cliff until hit a stone.

King Koopa notices them at the bottom of the cliff, and go after them. Toad notices a giant Warp Pipe leading somewhere, as the gang run into it. Bowser toss a Bob-omb into the pipe, destroying the entrance and blocking it with wreckage. In the dark, Mario sees a light thinking it is an exit, but discovers a big room filled with Coins. Princess Toadstool says that it is the Lost Gold Coin Mine. While Toad is stuffing his pockets with some gold Coins, Luigi is worried about getting out of the mine, and Mario says that they can dig a way out.

As the Mario brothers were almost to the surface, they aren't sure where are they heading. The gang reaches an "empty" town, and then scared by an eldery that introduces himself as Calamity Clam. Toad asks him where are they. The town is the Roads of Mushroom. He says that it is a "little ghost town". The mushroom asks then for an assay, as Calamity Clam takes them to it. He says that the coins are real, and miners look through the window. Seeing that, King Koopa attacks the town, turning the miners and Toad into his slaves to collect all the gold from the mine. Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Clam go to the Lost Gold Coin Mine to rescue the mushrooms.

Toad, in the mine, is freed by a Bob-omb and starts fighting with King Koopa, who is atop a pile of gold coins. The Mario brothers and their friends see the slaves, and Mario wants to get Fire Flowers. Calamity Clam knows a place with lots of them. After crossing the Tomato Sauce Mine and Pasta Mine, they reach the Fire Flower Mine. Mario and Luigi touch two flowers and become Super Mario and Super Luigi. Meanwhile, King Koopa orders more gold, but the Toads are very tired, what makes him angry. The Mario Bros. break a wall near there and frighten the Snifts. Bowser captures the Princess, and leaves riding a mine cart. The plumbers and Toad ride another mine cart, chasing him. As Mario touches King Koopa, he loses his Fire Flower power. Luigi, loses it too, a little before the mine carts sink into the tomato sauce lake. Soon, they pull Princess Toadstool to their cart. Bowser runs over a wood gate, getting out of the mine. The trails split into two trails. King Koopa goes to the right path, and the brothers go to the left one, passing him. Mario stops the cart, and then jump off it. Both carts collide and Bowser is launched towards a cactus, hurting him.

Animation and continuity errors

  • When King Koopa is seen from behind sitting on the pile of coins, he is not wearing pants.
  • Even though he didn't lose his power-up, Luigi is temporarily seen in his normal outfit. Shortly afterwards, he is seen in his Fire Luigi form, and he is seen losing his power-up due to taking damage soon afterwards.
