The P-Meter is a type of meter seen in Super Mario Bros. 3. The faster Mario or Luigi runs, the more the P-Meter fills up. Once the P-Meter is fully charged, Mario can run at full speed. However, if Mario is Raccoon Mario, the P-Meter being fully charged will allow him to fly, but only for a short period of time. Once the P-Meter empties, Mario stops flying and descends. In the Super Mario All-Stars version and the Game Boy Advance remake Super Mario Bros. 3: Super Mario Advance 4, the P-Meter had a different appearance.
The P-Meter returns in New Super Mario Bros. 2, only appearing when Mario is Raccoon Mario (or Invincible Raccoon Mario). Nothing has changed about it except the "P" icon is replaced by a P-Wing icon.
