Mario traverses a field of Falling Stars.
Falling Stars are enemies found in the Space Zone in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.
These Stars come in a bunch of groups in space; they are more like obstacles than enemies. Most of them stay in their positions while other stars move around. If Mario touches one of these stars, he'll get hurt. They are rather devious in that some may confuse them for Starmans.
