Koopas are a turtle-like species who have appeared as enemies or those in need of rescue in many games. They may be divided into the following groups: Koopa Troopa, Paratroopa, Magikoopa, Lakitu, Hammer Bros., and Dry Bones. The Koopa-like Spinies may also be found in the Buzzy Beetle category. Their ruler is King Bowser Koopa. Additionally, Huff N. Puff, a minion of Bowser, commands a large number of Lakitus, while Kammy Koopa is the leader of the Magikoopas. The kingdom of the Koopas is located in Dark Land. However, not all Koopas swear allegiance to Bowser and peaceful Koopa communities have emerged, such as Koopa Village in the Mushroom Kingdom and Petalburg outside of Rogueport.
