The Card Roulette is what appears at the end of each level in Super Mario Bros. 3. They however don't appear in fortresses and airships. They replaced Flagpoles from the game Super Mario Bros.. When Mario or Luigi hit the Card Roulette, it ends the level, and the game awards the points to the player.
There are three cards in the Card Roulette: a Starman, a Fire Flower and a Super Mushroom. The player is allowed to have three cards at a time. Certain combinations award the player 1-Ups. If the player gets three Stars, they get 5-Ups. If the player gets three Fire Flowers, they get 3-Ups. If the player gets three Super Mushrooms, they get 2-Ups. Any other combination would result in getting one 1-Up.
