The player starts the level in a [[lava]]-filled cavern where they must [[jump]] on a [[Spine Coaster]], which later leads to another Spine Coaster. The Spine Coaster leads Mario and co. to a [[Warp Pipe]], which leads to a volcano overworld/above-ground area with the [[Checkpoint Flag|midway point]] and to another Spine Coaster. After three more Spine Coasters, the [[Goal Pole|pole]] awaits at the end. The Spine Coasters often make risky maneuvers, passing through [[Lava Geyser]]s and the lava itself.
