World 5-3 is similar in layout to [[World 1-3 (Super Mario Bros.)|World 1-3]], taking place on top of high trees that act as platforms. However, the moving [[lift]]s are smaller and there are [[Bullet Bill]]s being fired at the player from off screen.

From the top of the third and taller tree, a shorter tree can be reached, and there will be a platform that can help the player reach the top of a tall tree with four coins.
