World 3 is an ice-themed world conquered by Lemmy Koopa in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The Penguin Suit is introduced in this world. This is also the first and only world in the game that has a switch that can change the obstacles slightly in levels, similar to Switch Palaces. On the map is an area with ice that has two Ice Bros. on it. If Mario and the gang are hit by them, they will endure a battle game where they will have to complete the Enemy Course.
World 3, also known as the Frozen World, is the third world in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is ice-themed and introduces the Penguin Suit. This is also the first and only world in the game that has a switch that can change the obstacles slightly in levels, similar to the Switch Palaces from Super Mario World. It is also the only world in the game with two parts. On the map is an area with ice that has two Ice Bros. on it. If Mario and co. are hit by them, they will endure a battle game where they will have to complete the Enemy Course. Lemmy Koopa is the boss of this world. It has eight levels and a total of eleven exits. It also has four Toad Houses: two red, one green, and one yellow.

The following enemies make their first appearance in a level of World 3:
Levels
3
The level starts in a snowy ground with Cooligans sliding in Mario's direction. The next part contains big bump ice ground, Piranha Plants and Paratroopas. Mario after explores an small part with giant ice walls. After entering in a pipe. Mario will see a long slippy track and can slide on it with a Penguin Suit until the Flagpole.

{{columns|count=2|
Star Coins
*Star Coin 1 - After the first two Piranha Plants, Penguin Mario must slide to break the bricks and to collect the Star Coin.
*Star Coin 2 - Under the Warp Pipe ground, is a little area with a pipe with a Piranha Plant. The plant must be freezed and become a platform to reach in the Star Coin.
*Star Coin 3 - In the ice track area, Mario must reach near five Brick Blocks and break the two that are on the entrance of a pipe. Entering in it, Mario is warped to a cave with two parts: above, an Cooligan pipe and in the bottom the Star Coin over an abyss. Mario can freeze a penguin and jump over it, using as a platform to take the Star Coin.

3
This is the only level with ice trees in the background. Also marks the first Ice Bros. and Bullet Bills appearance.

The stage starts with some hills with Goombas and three Bill Blasters and between them, the first Star Coin. The next part has an Ice Bro. and more Bill Blasters and a Star block. Near, some platforms with coins and a Yoshi Egg. Mario then passes to an area infested with Bill Blasters and moving platforms, after some Brick Blocks.

*Star Coin 1 - Above the first brown platform, Mario must hit in a Bullet Bill and jump higher to reach in the Star Coin.
*Star Coin 2 - In the Bill Blasters area, Mario will see four of the bullet cannons in a gap. There is a Warp Pipe that takes Mario to a cave where must jump in Bullet Bills to take the Star Coin.
*Star Coin 3 - After leave the bonus area, Mario must jump on a floating land piece using an up-down platform. Then uses a Bullet Bill to jump higher until the Star Coin.

Enemy Course
*Two Ice Bros.
*Three Ice Bros.
*Four Ice Bros.

The Ice Bros. will throw ice balls that will freeze and damage Mario and crew. To quickly escape an ice entrapment, the player should jump on them or try to hit them from below.

3
This level is an icy cave level with 3 parts. There are floating platforms, falling Icicles, and giant falling icicles that Mario can walk on, and some enemies such as Goombas and Ice Bros.

3
This is the first Ghost House in the game. Big Boos, smaller Boos, and possessed furniture are the main obstacles in this level. There is a platform that goes down in an area infested with Boos near the end of the level.

There is a secret exit in this level. When the player comes to the piont where he/she is swinging from the ropes on the ceiling, near the end they will discover a moving platform. When it moves away, they should drop, landing on a consealed platform with a door. When they go into this, they will discover a platform slowly decending, with countless Boos floating around. If the player survives, a door is seen. When gone through it will lead them to the World 6 Warp Cannon.

3
The last half of this level resembles Castle Crush, a level found in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. This level features brightly colored rotating blocks that must be used to climb to higher locations. Rolling spike balls, Dry Bones, and Amps are some of the hazards that must be avoided as the floor scrolls upward. At the end of the fortress, Lemmy Koopa is found balancing on a yellow ball. The player must attempt to defeat him while avoiding the yellow balls that Lemmy conjures otherwise they will be pushed off the level.

3
When the player first plays this level, he/she can only get to the secret red flag that takes him to 3-5. After hitting the red ! Switch, all the red blocks will appear, letting the player beat the level the regular way.  Moving ice blocks and Fire Bros. do make an appearance here.

3
When the player plays this level the first time, he/she can only reach 1 of the 2 endings.  However, if he/she returns after hitting the red ! Switch, red blocks will appear, and he/she can reach the hidden goal, unlocking a yellow Starman house.

3
Lemmy's Castle is riddled with giant falling icicles and frozen floors making timed jumps difficult.  There are also some segments with Bottomless Pits, which are traversed by a Ice Snake Block similar to the Snake Block seen in Roy Koopa and Larry Koopa's castles in Super Mario World.  However, this one is frozen. This is also the first level to feature Bob-ombs.

Lemmy Koopa is fought again here. Kamek turns Lemmy's ball bigger so it will be harder for Mario and co. to hurt Lemmy. As he takes damage, Lemmy's ball will grow bigger in size after he is done sliding his shell to attack Mario and gang.
