'''World 3-1''' is the first level of [[World 3 (Super Mario Bros. Special)|World 3]] in ''[[Super Mario Bros. Special]]''. It starts with an underwater area before transitioning to an overworld area.

==Layout==

The level begins with a [[Warp Pipe|pipe]] leading underwater. The underwater area has a single [[Blooper|Bloober]], followed by many [[Cheep Cheep]]s. There are two exit pipes: one in the middle between the Bloober and Cheep Cheeps, and one at the end. There are also [[coin]]s scattered around.

Both pipes lead to a sequence with two [[bridge]]s and a [[Scale Lift|Balance Lift]], and Cheep Cheeps that jump from the water. Above the first bridge is a [[Hidden Block]] containing a [[Super Mushroom|Magic Mushroom]] or [[Fire Flower]]. Following this is a structure that can be traversed either by going on top of it or through it. On top is a row of coins. To take the lower path, [[Mario]] must get through a one-tile gap. If he does, he can access a row of [[? Block]]s, one of which releases a power-up.

After a [[pit]], the level changes from the water tiles to an ordinary grassland. This begins with a section with [[Koopa Paratroopa]]s. A set of four unusually tall trees are present; the rightmost one has a [[Hidden Block]] with a [[1-Up Mushroom]] at its top. A tiny pit is also present. The last Paratroopa comes from the top of a tall wall of [[Hard Block]]s, which can only be passed using the nearby pair of [[Hidden Block]]s.

Next is a set of three pipes with [[Piranha Plant]]s. Between the second and third pipes is two [[Goomba|Little Goomba]]s and a Hidden Block with a power-up. After a final pit is the ending of the stage, where the top of the [[Goal Pole|flagpole]] can be reached with either the two-layer structure of Hard Blocks, or the Hidden Blocks next to the flagpole.
