Coconut Mall makes its classic course debut in Mario Kart 7 as the third course of the Banana Cup. The course is considerably shorter in length than that of the original Wii version. There are many changes that have been made to the course, mostly due to technical limitations of the Nintendo 3DS. Because all of the Piantas were removed, colored arrows were added to the escalators, with green arrows on the ones going up, and red arrows on the ones going down. The part under the glass floor is flooded. The first shortcut is no longer an off-road portion, meaning it can be cleared without the use of Mushrooms. The tables on the left side of the courtyard were removed. At the two jumps exiting the mall, the dash panel on the upper section was replaced with a glide ramp. In the parking lot, one of the Mii-driven cars was removed, and the remaining cars drive back and forth the whole width of the track; this is unlike Mario Kart Wii where two of the cars drove half the width. Additionally, there are no longer Miis on the inaccessible platforms, advertisements containing pictures of the player's Miis were removed, and all of the advertisements and signs are in English regardless of the language the game is being played.

This is one of the few retro courses in Mario Kart 7 to display advertisements in the same places as the original course. Other examples include GCN and N64.
