Yoshi's Wings,[1][2] also named Wings[3] or Warp Wings,[4] are a power-up item in Super Mario World. They allow a Yoshi to fly.

History[edit]

Super Mario World[edit]

When Mario or Luigi picks up this rare item while riding a Yoshi, the latter turns into Winged Yoshi, and they both enter Coin Heaven. In the original game, the Yoshi turns blue upon obtaining the wings and remains so after the Coin Heaven sequence is completed, no matter what colored Yoshi the player picked up the wings with. However, in the Game Boy Advance reissue, the Yoshi's color no longer changes when he grabs the wings. Wings appear in only three levels: Cheese Bridge Area, Valley of Bowser 2, and Way Cool. However, it is possible to use glitches to spawn wings in other levels.[5]

Super Mario World (television series)[edit]

In the Super Mario World animated series, Yoshi's Wings, though called Magic Wings, appear in the episodes "Ghosts 'R' Us," "Born to Ride," and "The Night Before Cave Christmas," where, like in the game, they can turn Yoshi into Winged Yoshi.
