| Hi, I had a look at your table for the items, and yes, I have a few suggestions. By the way, the loosen mushroom pic exists, there's no need for another one. Do you think you could move it here so I can make some minor edits and we can both work on it? - 03:40, 22 August 2014 (EDT) | | Hi, I had a look at your table for the items, and yes, I have a few suggestions. | :Done. Now I will see if there is anything to improve in the article, so we can both edit it. | | :Done. Now I will see if there is anything to improve in the article, so we can both edit it. |

| Actually, the names should go under the item, not above. Maybe we could get rid of that background and just keep the item itself? Like the poison mushroom? - 03:48, 23 August 2014 (EDT) | | Actually, the names should go under the item, not above. | :The Poison Mushroom is an exception because it never appears in the box. That's an idea, but we first need to choose with pic of Shells upload, in the box or once used, which is different. | | :The Poison Mushroom is an exception because it never appears in the box. | ::Thing is, I don't know how to make trasparency in Paint.NET.
| |
| :::Try just sticking it on a PowerPoint and removing the background. I think I should rewrite some if the item descriptions, some seen a bit... I don't know. Or did you just take it from the manual? If you did that's fine. <small>I think</small> - 07:05, 23 August 2014 (EDT)
| |
| ::::As long as there are no errors, take from the manual, it's better. If you want to do little edits from that text, feel free. I'll now see how to make the trasparency, but this don't means I will be offline. <small>Because it's better to use the time we are online togheter, work will rocket.</small>
| |
| :::::I've changed it a little bit, by getting rid if the * things and made Banana Peel suit it's Manual description. The Item Box doesn't really belong there as it isn't an item, but it does deserve a mention on the written section if the article. - 07:26, 23 August 2014 (EDT)
| |
| ::::::I simply didn't know where to mention it. I have managed to make the feather transparent. Thing is, we need a background to the table, because if not the white could be confused. Which color do you suggest? Or shoud I make a border?
| |
| :::::::It's fine if you didn't know where to put it. Instead if a border, take a look at what I have done and see if you like it. I ended up completely changing the table, if it's no good I'll revert it and try something else out. - 07:41, 23 August 2014 (EDT)
| |
| ::::::::I'm impressed! Now I'll update the Feather, see if you like it.
| |
| :::::::::I make it darker, otherwise the white pixels are hard to notice. Anyway, good job! I'll now work to make the items twice as big and trasparent using only Paint.NET (yes, I figured how to make, it is a copypaste work mainly). It will take a while, but surely I will do it. If not, why am I even there? If you have some other suggestion for other sections, make them as long as I am online.
| |
|
| |
| Maybe the table needs to be darker. I'm try it out. -
| |
|
| |
| Just for let you know, I think I can make double sized images faster. I'll try with the egg.
| |
|
| |
| Surprise! Fireball and Egg are here! This don't means the table is finished. A thing: for others item, the pic I should upload is:
| |
| *The one when the item is in the box:
| |
| *The one when the item is on the track. <br>
| |
| Those in the track looks better and complex. Download the 3rd SMK Sheet at www.mariouniverse.com and see which I should upload.
| |
| :I don't really understand much of that, but nice job on the images regardless. - 05:53, 24 August 2014 (EDT)
| |
| ::You want both of those now? Should we revert the feather image to the original form and upload the new version as a separate file?
| |
| :::I understand now. Different sprites for the different places. I think maybe stick to the box version for the ones that come in boxes, as items like feathers can't be seem out on the field, so we should keep it consistent. And Shroom64, once we're done, there will not be a need for the pics with boxes. (He means on the track or in the box on the upper hand corner, because they're actually different sprites). I'll be able to assist Monday arvo as I'll have a computer then. - 07:31, 24 August 2014 (EDT)
| |
| ::::OK, let's put them into the box (this means I will work a bit more but no probs). I think that for Banana, Green and Red Shells and Coins we can upload both in track and in box: at the left, in box, at the right, in track w/o box. All double-sized to avoid low resolution. Is this OK?
| |
| :::::Sounds good. Maybe just the info down, we Should do the minor adjustments later. - 07:45, 24 August 2014 (EDT)
| |
| ::::::Yep. In my world, stationary Green Shells are... Bananas. At least in this game where there's no diffrence in hits. I THINK.
| |
|
| |
| Three pics uploaded. Yay.
| |
| :Actually, in SMK, running into a Banana and running into a Shell yield different animations, despite flipping the kart over being impossible due to technical limits. And Tsunami, the Coin doesn't appear on the track aside from the ones already on the track. I should mention, they appear flat on the ground. Also, I won't be able to be available for a while due to traveling to New Jersey for a week, but I should be able to get on.
| |
|
| |
| Sorry, but I am quite tired, so I will finish it within two days or three. Today I'm planning to do only Boo after Coin.
| |
|
| |
| Bad news: I find out that the black is actually 000400 in hex, instead of 000000 like I thinked. This means that there is slightly less green and that the sprites I uploaded aren't the true actual sprites. This is a problem or we can keep it? The eye cann't see any difference. And since the Ghost in-box isn't in the sprite sheet, I had to rip the Ghost outside the box in an empty box and then double. So the placement could be wrong.
| |
|
| |
| Yes, I ate a Dash Mushroom for making 4 images this morning. All the Shells are missing.
| |
|
| |
| Ninelevendo, now that I near to upload everything with trasparency, is there anything to rewrite there?
| |
| :Yeah, the items do need to be rewritten from the manual. I'll do some now. -
| |
|
| |
| One left! Ninelevendo, do you want me to upload a SMK-styled blue lightning for you? (Does count as your personal image, I have 4/5)
| |
|
| |
| I'm done with the pics. This afternoon I'll see the description and edit the. Especially the Red Shell.
| |
| :Btw, the you messed up the poison mushroom, it's missing black parts. The items aren't done yet, but I'm starting to wonder whether we should use the manual or just make up our own, better descriptions. What do you think? And no thanks, I'm fine without the image. It would be nice, but I wouldn't know where to use it, I already have <- That. -
| |
| ::Sorry, the spite sheet showed them without borders. If you're OK, I'll put the table in the article and candidate for featuring.
| |
|
| |
| No, I did them right now. And that parts are easily added.
| |
| :I think it's time we put the table in. I think it's fine to go back to white beacuse we don't have the feather out of the box anymore. -
| |
| ::Let ME do that. Thanks a lot for helping though :)
| |
| :::I wasn't going to put it in the article if that's what you are saying. That's your job. Glad I could help :D Sorry if I was annoying at any times. -
| |
| ::::No, you wasn't. Just remember that I have found a good teammate if I will ever need more help in something...

| Items are obtained through ? Panels, scattred around the track. When the player passes over one, it will turn red (used) and not return orange (though in Battle Mode they did). Once a racer passes over one, with a few exceptions, they will receive an item in their box from the following:

| |- | | |- |
| ! <br>Banana Peel | | !<br>Banana*** |
| |When a kart hits a Banana Peel, it will spin out. | | |This slippery Banana Peel is ready to make opponents spin out after being placed (or throwed) on the track. But this can be escaped this by throwing a Shell to a Banana, destroying both. |
| |Can be thrown backward and forward. Also used by Donkey Kong Jr. if he is CPU-controlled.
| |
| |- | | |- |
| ! <br>Green Shell | | !<br>Green Shell*** |
| |The Green Shell will send an enemy into a spin if they are hit. Green Shell's can bounce off barriers. Throwing it backwards will cause it to remain stationary. | | |This item, often obtained by first-placers, bounces on hazards such as walls once threwed, and after a ceratin amount of times, it destroys itself. Its use is to hit opponents, that will spin out and lose time. |
| |Can be thrown backward and forward. Used by Koopa if CPU-controlled, but they will only be stationary.
| |
| |- | | |- |
| ! <br>Red Shell | | !<br>Red Shell*** |
| |The Red Shell acts similarly to a Green Shell, but homes in on the target instead. It will not bounce off walls, however. | | |This item is quite precious, as it allows an almost certain hit to the opponent in position next to the user. But unlike the Green version, this is weaker, as a hit will destroy it once for all. |
| |Can only be thrown forward.
| |
| |- | | |- |
| !<br>Feather | | !<br>Feather |
| |A Feather allows the user to perform a high jump, high enough to make create shortcuts normally impossible. | | |This item can cause great shortcuts: it allows to make a big jump, big enough to jump over gaps or walls if used well, but if the jump is calcuated wrong, this may lead to losing time. |
| |One-use item.
| |
| |- | | |- |
| !<br>Dash Mushroom | | !<br>Dash Mushroom |
| |A Dash Mushroom is more common item than a Feather or a Star, and allows the user to boost. It can either be used to slam an opponent or drive over hazards such as sand and grass without losing speed. | | |This item causes the kart to get a boost for a while and to not slow down on hazard such as grass or sand. Instead of using it as soon as received, it's better to hold it for a shortcut. |
| |One-use item.
| |
| |- | | |- |
| !<br>Star | | !<br>Star |
| |The Star provides two benefits, allowing the user to receive a small speed boost and too become invulnerable to everything. Contact with other racers will cause them to spin out. | | |This item can both grant faster speed and invulnerability to other items, as well as causing the opponents to spin out when touched. This lasts soon though, so the player has to use it to maximize the recovery. |
| |One-use item. Used also by Mario and Luigi if they are CPU-controlled.
| |
| |- | | |- |
| !<br>Ghost | | !<br>Ghost* |
| |The Ghost turns the user invisible and make them can steal an opponent's item. | | |The user of the item turns invisible, ignoring all hazards, and can easily stole another player's item thanks to this ghost. However, since there isn't a way to know if anyone holds an item, it could turns out to be unuseful, so it's better to use the invisiblity power. |
| |One-use item. Only appears in Battle Mode.
| |
| |- | | |- |
| ! <br>Coin | | !<br>Coin** |
| |The Coin adds to coins to the total coin count, increasing the users overall top speed. | | |This high-place item allows the player to add two Coins to their total. No other uses. |
| |Doesn't appear in Battle Mode.
| |
| |- | | |- |
| !<br>Lightning Bolt | | !<br>Lightning Bolt** |
| |The Lightning Bolt shrinks all the racers except for the user, making them slower and vulnerable to being squashed by normal sized racers. racers. The effect will wear after a brief period of time. | | |This item is one of the most powerful ever. When one of the lasts uses it, all the other racer temporanely shrink, slowing down drastically, and returning normal after some time. |
| |One-use item. Doesn't appear in Battle Mode.

| == Featuring the features == | |
| | |
| Hm, I think unsubstantial "per all" votes shouldn't even be allowed since they add nothing to the discussion and is just a waste of space. The voting system is just... useless when it comes to featured articles, since all it takes is one opposing comment to prevent a nomination from passing. I think a simple editor consensus with staff approval works, and it might work better than requiring 5 votes to feature. Once the consensus has been determined, then somebody with good judgement can then give a "pass" mark and wait for one week for the article to feature.
