| It turns out that it reads two different users, but for some reason, the second user link links to their user page instead of their list of contributions, meaning if this action was done by a user or IP that added vandalism or added false information to a page as an example, and it got reverted to the latest revision that an IP address made, if you hover over the redlink, it reads that the IP address has a user page that can be created, which is a bit odd to read because IPs cannot create their own user space, but regular users can. Does this mean that the IP can actually secretly create a user page of their IP address? Because when you are logged out, the area that reads the user you are logged in as reads "Not logged in" with no available link to a creatable user page. I really need an answer about all of this, thank you so much, Sparks. {{User:C11P/sig}} 05:30, June 28, 2024 (EDT) | | It turns out that it reads two different users, but for some reason, the second user link links to their user page instead of their list of contributions, meaning if this action was done by a user or IP that added vandalism or added false information to a page as an example, and it got reverted to the latest revision that an IP address made, if you hover over the redlink, it reads that the IP address has a user page that can be created, which is a bit odd to read because IPs cannot create their own user space, but regular users can. | == Creating user pages when a user is blocked ==
| |
|
| |
| Hello [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so in the Wiki, users can create a page as their personal user space, and can create multiple sub pages, in which other users cannot create or edit the pages, but one thing I always wanted to know is, when you are blocked from editing the Wiki, you can still add discussions to talk pages, but can you not edit your personal user page and sub pages when you are blocked from the Wiki? I really need an answer here. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:00, June 29, 2024 (EDT)
| |
| :According to [[MarioWiki:Blocking Policy]]:
| |
|
| |
| "'''Blocked users can still see all wiki pages, but they cannot login or edit. Instead, hitting the "edit" link brings them to a notification page, which provides the email that they can contact if they want to protest the block.'''
| |
|
| |
| '''When a blocked user attempts to edit, the IP from which they are editing is "autoblocked", so that they cannot try to go and edit from another account instead. There is an internal autoblock expiry time set to 24 hours, meaning that when a username is blocked indefinitely, their IP will be automatically unblocked 24 hours after they last accessed a page.'''"
| |
|
| |
| I know blocked users can edit their own talk pages, but admins can prevent them from doing so when they perform the block process. They cannot edit on mainspace articles no matter what, whether it be talk pages or the subjects themselves. If you have any other questions about policies, I recommend checking out the [[Help:Contents|Help]] page. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 07:16, June 29, 2024 (EDT)

| == The image for a page's thumbnail ==
| |
|
| |
| Hello [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so in every page, there is an image used for the thumbnail of the pages, like a [[List of characters|character]] or enemy from the [[Super Mario (franchise)|''Super Mario'' (franchise)]] and where the artwork of that character or enemy of that game is from, but are we allowed to change these images to the image of the character or enemy from a different game's artwork from the ''Super Mario'' (franchise) or not? As long as if it is not adding vandalism to the page. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:52, July 2, 2024 (EDT)
| |
| :The artwork needs to match up with the current section of the article, so if it's a Goomba's artwork from ''Super Mario World'', then it goes in the ''Super Mario World'' section. Subjects use artwork from their latest appearance in their infoboxes, but if the artwork showcases the subject with something unique for the game (for example, Mario with the Dual Slingers from ''Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope'') then it isn't used,just the latest artwork of them without anything related to one game. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 08:06, July 2, 2024 (EDT)

| == Writing ''[[Monopoly Gamer]]'' in italic ==
| |
|
| |
| Hello [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so we have to write games from the [[Super Mario (franchise)|''Super Mario'' franchise]] in italic, but do we have to put ''[[Monopoly Gamer]]'' in italic or not? We just want to know because the title of this page is not in italic, but users write this in italic elsewise and it is also a game that people can play. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:45, July 6, 2024 (EDT)
| |
| :Board games titles shouldn't be italicized. Only books, movies, TV shows and video games should be italicized. Songs are to be in quotation marks. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 08:31, July 6, 2024 (EDT)

| == Header for pages ==
| |
|
| |
| Hello [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so we've been wondering on how do you change the text of the header of your user space or talk page, because your talk page's heading does not say ''"User talk:Sparks"'', but instead says ''"Woo! I mean, YAY!! - Sweetie Belle, 2011"''. How do you even do this at all? I really need an answer here. {{User:C11P/sig}} 07:24, July 10, 2024 (EDT)
| |
| :Use<code><nowiki>{{DISPLAYTITLE:</nowiki></code> and then type in what you want the title to display. For example, for my talk page I typed in <code><nowiki>{{DISPLAYTITLE:Woo! I mean, YAY!! - Sweetie Belle, 2011}}</nowiki></code>. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 08:28, July 10, 2024 (EDT)

| A lot of those were not actually supposed to be tagged for deletion, they were just marked as such by a user who misunderstood a proposal and refused to clean up their mess (to wit: they were meant to go on the list/game pages, but the person who decided to enact the proposal got lazy and neglected to include them - see [https://www.mariowiki.com/User_talk:Super_Mario_RPG#Deletion_templates_for_Smash_redirects this conversation]). | == JPG ==
| |
|
| |
| If you got that ''DDR:MM'' screenshot from a video as you say in the upload summary, then why did you upload it as a JPG instead of PNG? Saving as JPG worsens the quality of the screenshot and JPGs [[User_talk:Porplemontage#Question_about_image_thumbnails|blur heavily when thumbnailed]]. So if the image wasn't [[MarioWiki:Proposals/Archive/46#Prohibit_Converting_Between_GIF.2C_JPEG.2C_and_PNG_Formats|already a JPG to begin with]], I don't see a reason to upload in that format (printscreened video screenshots aren't going to be perfect quality in the first place, but saving as JPG just adds more artifacting). PNG is superior. The same can be said about your X-Fist and X-Punch screenshot uploads, assuming those are taken from videos as well. {{User:7feetunder/sig}} 15:37, July 20, 2024 (EDT)
| |
| :Whenever I take screenshots from videos (I use an IPad), they're in PNG format, but when I crop them to remove anything unnecessary (black bars, watermarks) they change to JPG format and I don't know why. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 15:39, July 20, 2024 (EDT)

| == Features ==
| |
|
| |
| Do you like when new features are added to the wiki, that is, if they do not deter from the experience or accessibility of content? Sure, it's like one got removed lately (Tabber) though you seemed particularly eager about the Thanks proposal I did and proceeded to archive it when it passed eagerly. I think one way of keeping the place fun is experimenting with all of these features. Just felt the need to share, since it feels great when people benefit from one's proposals, templates, or features. | |
| :I like the idea of the Thanks extension! Other users complained about the tabbers because they didn't work, but they weren't an issue for me. In my opinion, new features can work really well and even encourage users/editors. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 12:31, August 24, 2024 (EDT)

| == Period after "Bros" ==
| |
|
| |
| Hello again [[User:Sparks|Sparks]]. Sorry if I am acting like a dumb head, but it turns out that some people editing this Wiki really need to learn how to put the period or full stop after "Bros", the reason why it needs to be like this is because putting a period after a word in the middle of a sentence can tell that it is a word that stands for something like as an example: "Bros." stands for "Brothers", without the period after a word like this, people might not know reading the article that that word is a word standing for something else. I originally asked [[User:Mario jc|Mario jc]] about this formatting of "Bros.", but he did not reply to what we said, frustrating us, meaning we needed to ask you about this, as you always reply to other people, when Mario jc replies to a comment, instead of replying to the comment on his [[User talk:Mario jc|Talk Page]], he puts his response on the corresponding User's Talk Page to who asked the new topic. Can we please sort all of this out? Thank you so much, Sparks. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:20, September 11, 2024 (EDT)
| |
| :Many games in the ''Super Mario'' franchise have the word "Bros." This is an abbreviation of the word "brothers" and so a period must be placed after the word. I even looked it up and every website I've seen agrees to place a period after "Bros." {{User:Sparks/sig}} 07:15, September 11, 2024 (EDT)

| == Formatting "[[Spiny]]" to proper American English ==
| |
|
| |
| Hello again [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so it turns out that throughout the whole of this Wiki, a lot of people are writing "[[Spiny]]s" instead of "Spinies". The reason it needs to be "Spinies" is because words that end with "Y" in plural form replace the "Y" with "IES", writing a word ending with "Y" and putting an "S" on the end just does not look right at all, can we please sort all of this out like what we did to "Bros."? Thank you very much, Sparks. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:39, September 12, 2024 (EDT)
| |
| :Spinies have more commonly been referred to such as "Spinies", and I believe that is the correct way to spell it. However, I looked on the Spiny article found that there have been rare instances where they were called "Spinys". Examples of this include ''[[Super Mario Adventures]]'' and ''[[Super Paper Mario]]''. They're likely errors, but that was what they were known as for those media. Nowadays, "Spinies" looks to be the official spelling, as modern ''Mario'' games and such have that pluralization. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 07:51, September 12, 2024 (EDT)

| == [[User:Koopa con Carne|Koopa con Carne]]'s signature page ==
| |
|
| |
| Hello again [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so it turns out that [[User:Koopa con Carne|Koopa con Carne]]'s signature page is misspelt, it has a capital "S" in "Sig", it needs to be spelt as "sig" (<code><nowiki>{{User:Koopa con Carne/sig}}</nowiki></code> instead of <code><nowiki>{{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}}</nowiki></code>), can you kindly ask him to fix this up, because this signature does not work with the <code><nowiki>{{Sigbox}}</nowiki></code> template, it works if "Sig" is spelt as "sig". This template only accepts User Pages ending with "/sig". Thank you so much, Sparks. {{User:C11P/sig}} 06:00, September 17, 2024 (EDT)

| Why did you remove my crossover idea? [[Special:Contributions/91.214.137.123|91.214.137.123]] 07:11, November 4, 2024 (EST)
| |
| :According to [[Help:Communication]], talk pages are '''used to debate or ask questions about the article that corresponds to it. This is not the right place to discuss which character is better or which species is the strongest.''' Basically what this means is that talk pages are meant to be used for constructive purposes, such as how to improve the article or to confirm information for example. What you put on there was what we'd call Forum Talk. That wasn't constructive and doesn't help the article, and so I removed it. If you want to share ideas, this place is not where to do it.
