| :You don't need to keep saying you are new to the wiki every time you make a post. And there are more than 2 gameplay photos of the M&S2016ROG if you scroll down to near the bottom of the page. {{User:Alex95/sig}} 12:09, 21 August 2016 (EDT)

| == Welcome! ==
| |
|
| |
| Hello! Welcome to the wiki. I noticed you're adding information pertaining to Birdo, and as a fellow Birdo fan it is much appreciated. I noticed on the ''Mario Golf: World Tour'' [[Gallery:Mario Golf: World Tour|Gallery]] page that you took a few edits to add a picture of Birdo. When editing a page, next time use the '''Show preview''' button before pressing the "Save page" button so you can check what the page will look like after you edit it, so you needn't make too many edits and clutter up the page's history backlog.
| |
|
| |
| Also, Gallery pages are meant to include every image of that character/game that has been uploaded to the wiki. An image should only be removed if they are fundamentally identical to another; that would mean the exact same scene from the exact same game (in the case of gameplay screenshots), or the exact same piece of artwork (with no differences whatsoever).

| :Like {{User|Mario jc}} mentions below, simply go to [[Special:Upload|Upload File]] on the left Navigation Bar. However, if you are adding photos found during a Google search, please be sure to put in the proper source such as where the image originally came from. Give credit where credit is due, you know?
| |
| :If you have any questions, feel free to ask around :) Also, be sure to sign your comments with three or four "~", which will make your current signature (which includes your user name and time stamp) show up. {{User:Alex95/sig}} 13:37, 22 August 2016 (EDT)

|
| |
| [http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Birdo_%28species%29&type=revision&diff=2043316&oldid=2024740 Regarding your recent edit], keep in mind that there should always be a space after punctuation like commas and periods/full stops, and also please remember to ''italicise'' all game titles next time (You may have noticed this in other titles in the same page you were editing). This is done like so: <tt><nowiki>''[[Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games]]''</nowiki></tt> which becomes: ''[[Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games]]'' (For more information, please read the [[MarioWiki:Manual of Style|Manual of Style]].)
| |
|
| |
| As for uploading images to the wiki, this is done by going to [[Special:Upload]]. This link can also be found under "tools" on the left navigation pane (named "Upload file"). {{user:Mario jc/sig}} 07:17, 22 August 2016 (EDT)

| |
| {{reminder|2=consistently writing with poor grammar}}
| |
| You are free to use grammar as freely as you'd like on talk pages, but in the main articles, grammar is important. Please write with proper grammar when writing on articles, as many of [http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Birdo_Egg&type=revision&diff=2043355&oldid=2039191 your] [http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Birdo&type=revision&diff=2045322&oldid=2043499 mainspace] [http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Toadette&diff=2045317&oldid=2043295 edits] have been poorly written, with missing punctuation and spacing. Please consider reading over the [[MarioWiki:Manual of Style|Manual of Style]] and the links provided you in the Welcome notice above. I understand if English isn't your native language, but this is an encyclopedia, and we're expected to follow its writing guidelines. If you need help with any of this, please don't hesitate to ask. | Hey could you please remember to sign your comments in the future. It will save users like me a lot of trouble to add the {{tem|Unsigned}} template. To sign them you use the following <nowiki>{{User|Mariobirdofan02}}</nowiki> or <nowiki>~~~</nowiki> and if you want to put a timestamp: <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> if you have any more questions about this subject ask me, ask a moderator, ask another user, or check [[Mariowiki:Signatures|this page]]. | {{reminder|2=not adding proper punctuation to articles}}
| |
| I know you've been reminded of this already, but you keep forgetting to add in proper punctuation (such as commas and periods) into the sentences you include into articles. Please take more care and proof-read your work before adding it in. {{User:Alex95/sig}} 14:57, 2 October 2016 (EDT)

| == Writing Quality ==
| |
|
| |
| I've noticed you editing several pages to help add to the content of the Wiki, so that's well-appreciated. However, not to sound mean, but your quality of writing does not always match to par with what's expected on the Wiki, so at times your writing seems sloppy. So, I offer two pieces of advice:
| |
| #Use the "Show preview" button before editing a page. This allows you to review your work in case you notice you made a typo, forgot something, messed up the formatting, etc. This can also help prevent the next point:
| |
| #Try to minimise the number of edits you make! What I mean, is try to avoid editing one section of a page, saving the edit, then moving on to another section, and making continuous edits like that. Or, editing something but continuously reverting it due to mistakes or changes in thoughts. If you keep all your edits in one "trip", then it also makes it easier for me to help with grammatical errors or improve the writing quality.
| |
|
| |
| Thanks for your help on the Wiki, and I hope you consider these pieces of advice. [[User:MarioComix|MarioComix]] ([[User talk:MarioComix|talk]]) 18:43, 2 October 2016 (EDT)

| ==Linking==
| |
| Your question wasn't clear. You want me to pipe links so it shows up like [[Birdo|this]] for interwiki links or show up like [http://www.mariowiki.com/Birdo this] for external links? {{User:Baby Luigi/sig}} 15:35, 9 October 2016 (EDT)
| |
|
| |
| I wanted it to show up like [http://www.mariowiki.com/Birdo this] {{unsigned|Mariobirdofan02}}
| |
| :Yeah, just copy what I did and you should be fine. However, if there's an article in MarioWiki, like [[Birdo]], and you want to write a link in an article, pipe with the former method instead. {{User:Baby Luigi/sig}} 15:40, 9 October 2016 (EDT)

| |
| == Grammar ==
| |
|
| |
| I understand English may be difficult for you, but you must at least understand the most basic grammatical rules when editing. You cannot always rely on others to correct them for you. Some pointers that may help:
| |
| *''Always'' put a space after punctuation, especially the most common ones: periods/full stops (.) and commas (,)
| |
| *Plural forms of words don't need an apostrophe (e.g. "two tournament'''s'''", not "two tournament<b>'s</b>")
| |
| Please refer to [[MarioWiki:Manual of Style]] for more information; you can even refer to other users' edits as an example. I wanted to explain your mistakes first, but it is a [[MarioWiki:Warning policy|level one offence]], so you may get a warning if this happens again (given that you've already received two reminders). We're an encyclopedia, and a big part of making it one is good grammar. Hope this helps, and keep contributing! {{user:Mario jc/sig}}
| |
|
| |
| == Reminder for grammar ==
| |
|
| |
| {{reminder||writing with very bad grammar}}
| |
| *Please use a space after punctuation. This includes periods (.), commas (,), semicolons (;), and colons (:).
| |
| *Please use periods (.) at the end of every sentence.
| |
| *Please use plural verbs (such as "are") when writing about more than one object, and use singular verbs (such as "is") when writing about one object. Example: They are / he is
| |
| *Because this is an encyclopedia, use general nouns such as “the player” or “a person” instead of “you”.
| |
| *Write in correct verb tense for describing fiction. Instead of saying “the character will/would get” or “the character got”, say “the character gets”.
| |
| *Use “an” when the next word begins with a vowel sound. Use “a” when the next word begins with a consonant sound. Example: “an apple” “a player” (NOT “a apple” or “an player”)
| |
| *Read [[MarioWiki:Manual of Style]] for more information.

| :I'm going to give you a warning for this, actually. You have been told ''numerous times'' to fix your editing habits, yet you have failed to do so. Should you continue to write the way you are, a {{tem|last warning}} or a block may occur. {{User:Alex95/sig}} 11:30, 22 February 2017 (EST)

| :: Not only <i>that</i>, but you <i>really</i> need to make sure to recheck and see if what you're adding is necessary/noteworthy for the articles themselves. |
| |
| Hi,
| |
| I saw your recent edits regarding [[Birdo]] in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]]''. Personally, I have been worried if she would return for this game, and seeing your edits gives me hope. Could I ask you to give me the URL to the video in which you saw Birdo?

| You're still [https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Diddy_Kong&type=revision&diff=2350419&oldid=2348748 forgetting] to add spaces after periods. Given that you've been blocked for this once already after you were reminded of this multiple times, you may receive another if this keeps up. Your edits otherwise have been constructive and in good faith, so I'm giving you a final chance to address this simple but ''important'' writing guideline. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 20:38, 2 December 2017 (EST)
