| I did see that note. perhaps should've made discussion before adding it. on one hand I understand since it just says what buttons to press, but on the other hand a game mentioning a cheat code is also a bit more complicated then just listing controls as of all the other instances (not to mention being hidden and games rarely mention secret codes like that ingame) then theres the instance of the code in Bowser's Inside Story, which is also on the page. True they do mention hearing the 'buttons' being pressed, but it's still essentialy passing secret info meant for the player, and again a bit more special then the usual "press 'this button' to do 'this'.[[User:Pikmin theories|Pikmin theories]] ([[User talk:Pikmin theories|talk]]) 22:15, November 10, 2023 (EST) | | I only realised now that your sig has been changing automatically every month. | So, I'm back, again. New RPG, new list to create. Anyways, I'll stick to the point: Since the page for ? Blocks in Origami King is so thorough and includes EVERY SINGLE ONE, I thought: Why some pages should have only hidden blocks and this one has all. I am aware that TOK as ingame counter for them, but so does the 3DS Mario and Luigi titles and only SS has the page for the hidden ones. So, I propose these two scenarios:
| | == "Dream?" == |
|
| |
|
| Add non-hidden ? Blocks to the respective pages and then rename the pages and create the pages for the games that does not have them, such as PIT. And do it for every single RPG.
| | I ''think'' it was ''Dream''. I could be wrong, because I was watching a YT vid about it. (I think it's a legit game. I'll rewatch it, and tell you later.) {{User:DarkNight/sig}} 23:54, September 1, 2020 (EDT) |

|
| |
|
| I really think this would be a good idea, but I'm eager to hear your thoughts on this. Even if you think I should not do it, tell me, so I won't ask in the future again. | | I thought it was a weird glitch on my end at first, but something peculiar I've noticed recently is that "meta categories" are no longer visible when I'm signed off. I can understand maybe hiding something like the merge and split templates from casual readers since those are really meant between editors, but I don't know why the another language and conjecture templates are hidden from view unless you are signed on. I think it's useful to have those visible at all times, especially since we tend to not cite in-game references and thus readers can easily mistake a conjectural title for an in-game name, and while it didn't stop ''Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia'', I was optimistic that future writers will learn not to follow that example, which defeats the purpose of some of our criticism if those templates are now hidden. Additionally, not everyone browses the site signed on unless they're ready to edit, so these details can now be missed. Why was this change made, and can it be reconsidered? [[User:LinkTheLefty|LinkTheLefty]] ([[User talk:LinkTheLefty|talk]]) 23:03, September 4, 2020 (EDT) |
| | :Thanks. The another language and conjecture templates show up for me again logged off. Are the "proposal templates" (merge to/from, split, rename, and notice) going to stay hidden? That seems like something that should have been openly discussed first, unless that's also part of the error. [[User:LinkTheLefty|LinkTheLefty]] ([[User talk:LinkTheLefty|talk]]) 15:29, September 5, 2020 (EDT) |
| | ::Why not keep at least keep the meta categories visibly listed at the bottom of the articles with or below the main categories, where they're unobtrusive to casual readers but still noticeable to other editors who are signed out? [[User:LinkTheLefty|LinkTheLefty]] ([[User talk:LinkTheLefty|talk]]) 10:10, September 6, 2020 (EDT) |
| | :::Would a proposal to restore partial (category only) or full (entire template) visibility be vetoed by admins? I feel a change like this should have had user consensus first, and for me at least, having pages change depending on whether you're signed in or out is confusing and not very intuitive. | | I understand that for most of these, they're just the same artwork but at a lower resolution. However, would it not be good to at least have Bee Mario art with a transparent background? I mean, we have black-BG and transparent-BG versions of the ''Dark Moon'' art for King Boo and E. Gadd. As well, a bunch of these artwork have a little bit of shadow outlining around the character, yet we still have shadowed and shadowless versions of artwork, in particular, Rosalina's art from ''Smash 4''. I don't think ''all'' of the reused art needs to be uploaded, but I don't think that warrants dismissing all of them at once. (Unless there's some kind of Wiki policy that I haven't read.) | Hi. So. I just finished original Bowser's Inside Story and there are quite a lot of types of blocks, namely ? Block, Attack Piece Block, Brick Block, Special ? Block, Rally Block, Empty Block, M-Block, L-Block, Body Slam Panel, Puzzle Sack Block and ! Block., so I kind of have series of questions:
| | Why is ''of'' used in this case? |
| *Special ? Block - 2 in Pump Works and 1 in Energy Hold, these ? Blocks when struck create a collumn of 5 M/L Blocks in a pattern, which then must be repeated by striking subsequent 5 ? Blocks. Since they are different from normal ? Blocks, I would like to know if we have page for this type of block so I can use it when making the list? I vaguely remember it reappearing in Paper Jam, with P Blocks added to the mix.
| |
| *M/L/! Blocks - 1 M in Energy Hold, 2 L in Pump Works and Energy Hold, ! in Plack Beach Cliff. I grouped them together since they serve the same purpose. When struck, they turn on the coins around them. Should I include them in the list even though they're technically switches? But then these four are the only "switches" that give you a reward, like a ? Block. So you can see the dilemma here.
| |
| *Body Slam Panel - In Blubble Lake, Bowser Path and Peach's Castle. They also give out rewards when struck, just like ? Blocks But due to their low number, which would be better: Include them in the list or make a section in the Body Slam page?
| |
| *Empty Block - Ten in Toad Town Mall. Only in the Mushroom Ball sidequest. Add to the list and to the Mushroom Ball page or just the MB page? I know there already are some images, but I will include new ones in preparation for when I'll play the remake. (requested by Swallow)
| |
| *Puzzle Sack Block - Same as MB - On the list and page or just the page? Here I would only edit the existing images and also to prepare it for the remake.
| |
| *As for the rest, they will be added by default, so no questions for them.

| Hi, I have a question: You know how List of ? Blocks in Paper Mario: The Origami King includes both visible and hidden blocks, right? Probably because it has a semi-block counter (the % one). I've wondered, should I combine the page I'm working on right now (List of blocks in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions) with the one for the hidden blocks from the same game (List of hidden blocks in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions

I thought about it because these two games are the only ones that take the hidden blocks into account while counting the blocks in their in-game counters, unlike Paper Jam and Bowser's Inside Story remake (due to having none or very little hidden blocks). I would mark the hidden ones with the icon in the form of the Secret Specs sprite. So, what do you think? | Well, I have finished with remake of PMTTYD and already uploaded images for Treasure/Black Chests. I will do rest over the course of this week, but I have a question: The area east of the Petalburg is named Petal Meadows in the original but Path to Shhwonk Fortress and Shhwonk Fortress in the remake. But only the first screen is considered PtSF and the rest as SF (on the map and when UI appears). But Goombella's area Tattle considers all screens before the screen after the Thwomp as PtSF. My question is: When I will add remake info and images to the pages, should I go by map/UI or Goombella's area tattle? From what I understand, there is no bottom tier indicator to go along with the "favoured / favourite" pair, which is frankly a little confusing in itself and mostly refers to the courses themselves anyway, not drivers or karts; the "Normal/Good/More Good" triplet (or its more grammatically correct counterpart, "Normal/Good/Better") is also flawed since "Normal" might be confused for the rarity classification of the same name. It would have been ideal to have those in the proposal since they're official, and I recognise that I should have asked Mister Wu for research first, but again, I think most users find little reason not to use the already highly-supported option. What do you think? {{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}} 08:32, October 13, 2020 (EDT) |

Since both space variants that send the player backwards are known as "Back Spaces" in ''Mario Party 10'', I'd like to know what custom identifiers to use in this case. (Note that in the case of moving forwards, the ones with a fixed number of spaces are known as "Advance Spaces" whereas the ones requiring a dice roll are known as "Dash Spaces", so there's no problem in that case.) {{User:Archivist Toadette/sig}} 18:58, October 20, 2020 (EDT) |

| I do agree that there's been a lack of communication with the changes I'm making to articles. I think I just assumed proposals are mostly for deciding whether to create or delete stuff on the wiki. On sidenote, I think disagreements on articles (mainly if they're not part of a "set" like Mario Kart courses, Super Mario levels) are too vague and lack substance to form a proposal out of.
| |
|
| |
|
| As for the tabber template, both cases approved by the system are comparing screenshots each showing a different iterations of something between appearances. I'm not the only one who has been doing this: if you also take a look at the Mario 64 courses, I didn't add tabber to those. The Mario Party and Mario Kart set a precedent for similar cases: if Mario party minigames can use tabber, why not WarioWare microgames too? those are minigames that have returned in later WarioWare games in very similar manner to Mario Party minigames. From what I've heard, there's a solution in place for if JavaScript doesn't work, though over time, I've both felt and realized that such circumstances would call for captioning the images to preserve the context of the images.

|
| For show/hide, I personally love clicking between tabs and collapsible content, especially if it's collapsing an element than might clash with prose (e.g. bloated wikitables or galleries). I'm also not the only person to have been doing this, as I saw someone add to a section on the [[e-Reader]] article, which has a bloated wikitable.

| The Luigi's Mansion room pages have this one 3DS image on the side that squishes the opening text, making it harder to read, which is why I added tabber on the Luigi's Mansion room pages. I try to reduce redundant headings, which can include a gallery section if it has only one image, or sections with only one or two sentences.

The first Lakitu begins its retreat near a bunch of brick blocks high in the air, which are hiding a secret One-Up. If you cross this threshold, the Lakitu begins its retreat like normal. If you platform on top of these bricks, you can defeat the Lakitu easily. But, if you move Mario past the threshold, the Lakitu wakes back to life on a lower yPosition, and retreats like nothing happened. If you are very quick about it, you can defeat the same Lakitu a second time. This is a very unusual bug. [https://jmp.sh/s/5M1HiqMUFF1kzcA3Obsc Here is a demonstration!]

|
| '''The previously unknown item in Super Mario Bros.''' | | Hey there! I'm in the process of adding availabilities and making the writing consistent between articles on ''Mario Kart Tour'' karts. One difficulty that I've come across is finding the least confusing way in which a kart's special skill can be explained. The in-game descriptions are too succinct (''Increases [Technique] boost time and points earned for performing one.'') and I think it's our job to expand a bit on the phrasing and make it clearer. Here are some phrasing options; I would like to know which one do you think is best, or if you have better alternatives: |
| | #''Boosts last longer and yield more points than usual when using this kart.'' -- Puts too much focus on the "boosts" rather than on the main subject (the kart). |
| | #''When this kart is used, boosts last longer and yield more points than usual.'' -- Better than the previous, though it still implies that the kart is unusual. Stating that the kart "increases boost duration and points" would put it on the same level as other karts with the same special skill. |
| | #''This kart increases the duration of boosts and the points earned for performing one.'' -- Do we get points from the duration or the boosts? I know that the former wouldn't make sense logically, but at a first glance it might be a tad too difficult to read between the lines. |
| | #''This kart increases boost time/duration and points earned for performing one.'' -- Not only is this a confusing rearrangement of the previous phrasing (where "one" could syntactically refer to either "time" or "boost"), but it's also a mere reflection of the in-game text. |
| | #''This kart increases boost time/duration and points.'' -- Bit too short innit? |
|
| |
|
| A [https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Super_Mario_Bros._glitches#Disappearing_Power-Ups notable glitch] in Super Mario Bros. is that two items cannot be rendered at the same time on the screen.
| | {{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}} 09:30, November 29, 2020 (EST) |
|
| |
|
| An implication of this is that the Beanstalk / Vine also needs to be included as one of the [https://www.mariowiki.com/Super_Mario_Bros.#Items Items] in the Super Mario Bros. article.
| | :Yeah, this is good enough. I think I'll use it. Thanks! {{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}} 18:21, November 30, 2020 (EST) |
| | ::One more thing. Should we say, "Jump Boost boosts"? It sounds repetitive, but it's the game's own phrasing, as if it differentiates the Jump Boost action from the actual speed boost that results from driving over ramps. {{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}} 18:26, November 30, 2020 (EST) |
|
| |
|
| This is because the game considers Beanstalks to be an item.
| | ==Pokey== |
|
| |
|
| I will prove this to you by showing that a vine cannot be rendered at the same time as an item. It is easy to make an item disappear because of a vine. But can you make a vine disappear because of an item?
| | Okay, yet another naming question. So there are two types of Pokeys: the prominent kind debuting in ''Super Mario Bros. 2'', and the not-so-prominent [[Needlenose]] varieties that have been around since ''Yoshi's Island''. The problem is that the current title for the latter variety of Pokey is [[Pokey (Yoshi's Island series)|Pokey (''Yoshi's Island'' series)]], which isn't a suitable identifier since both types of Pokeys appear in ''[[Yoshi's New Island]]'' (they even appear in the exact same level, [[Underground Pokey Patrol]]). Given this, what would be a more suitable identifier for the article in question? Given that the Japanese transliteration for the latter variety of Pokey is "''Heading Sanbo''", would {{fake link|Pokey (heading)}} work? {{User:Archivist Toadette/sig}} 22:50, December 6, 2020 (EST) |
|
| |
|
| In [https://www.mariowiki.com/World_3-1_(Super_Mario_Bros.:_The_Lost_Levels)#Level_map Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels World 3-1], you can do just that! Consider the close proximity of the vine block and mushroom block. [https://jmp.sh/s/J8A6SN8OwmN3bfoZAkcN Here's a gif] but you can also try it out for yourself. First hit the beanstalk box, then hit the mushroom box. The beanstalk will disappear because the game treats it like an item. Hopefully this is proof enough that Beanstalks should be considered an item along with the rest. (If it's not enough evidence, then this needs to be added as a completely new glitch in Super Mario Bros.)
| | ==Clarification== |

| The cards needed to play minigames at the [[Pianta Parlor]] in ''[[Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]'' — the [[Special Card]], the [[Silver Card]], the [[Gold Card]], and the [[Platinum Card]] — are collectively called Member's Cards. The name appears four times in the game:

| What should we do?
| | == Re-protect == |
| * Do not cover the name.
| |
| * Create a page for the name, using the singular form. This would make the page hard to categorize. For example, if we put it in [[:Category:Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door special items]], it would appear to be another special item rather than a collective name.
| |
| * Create a page for the name, using the plural form. This doesn't seem to be wiki practice, and the plural form is unattested in the game.
| |
| * Redirect the name to [[Pianta Parlor]]. Seems to be a good idea, but this would make [[Pianta Parlor]] a two-subject page, possibly with two bolded names in the introductory part.

| * [[List of minor NPCs in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]
| |
| * [[List of unnamed NPCs in Super Paper Mario]]
| |
|

|
| The inconsistency in their names is due to historical reasons. These pages were really about characters not covered on the wiki, which, due to [[SMW:NPC]], are the ''minor'' (unimportant to storyline), ''unnamed'' NPCs. I initially went with "List of Minor NPCs …" because it was the only capitalized term at the time, which means I had to mention the minor-but-named characters, duplicating info available elsewhere on the wiki. I didn't use it for ''Super Paper Mario'' because the number of minor-but-named characters far outweighs the minor-but-unnamed ones in that game. Since the term was later [https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?diff=3833486 decapitalized], would it be a good idea to change all three pages to "unnamed NPCs", for consistency? --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 22:03, February 5, 2024 (EST)

| Hi! I have a small question about signatures. In [[MarioWiki:Signatures]], one of the rules states that "Some users also change their sigs during certain holidays. Though allowed, these sigs must also conform to all previous rules, and it is suggested to only do this a couple of times a year at most." However, I can't help but notice that a lot of users have multiple signatures that are used throughout the year, which technically breaks this rule. I was wondering what this rule's logistics are; is it just a suggestion, a hard rule, or something in between? I made [[Talk:Sparkle#Rename this page and make another, similar page as there are two different uses of the word Sparkle.|this proposal]] recently. If this is the case, it would mean that I'd have to change and/or delete my proposal as it would not be needed. However, I have not made it to the part of the game where the Sparkla Spirit(s) are directly mentioned, so I don't know what to do. | I'm questioning about our current practice of piping links to avoid redirects. Someone asked exactly why we do this, and I thought about reasons but they didn't really connect well. [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Redirect#Do_not_%22fix%22_links_to_redirects_that_are_not_broken Wikipedia has a rundown] on why linking to redirects on articles is actually good practice (and probably better than piping), and the reasons here seem solid. | :I mean, the same thing about there being "nothing wrong with it" can be said about actively fixing links to redirects too. And it's unlikely there'll be a ''Mario''-centric subject named "Sonic" that's just as let alone more prominent than Sonic the Hedgehog that will take over that article title (going by that first "reason not to bypass"), and we use piped links for a lot of text already where it's necessary (second reason). I assume Porple had a reason for [[Special:Diff/1266580|establishing the rule]] (I always assumed it was a technical reason) so maybe ask him. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 11:23, May 25, 2024 (EDT)

| Just to be clear, yes Nintendo officially did release the Disk System in Hong Kong. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXuVDUUmYyo This commercial] is more than enough proof that this is a legitimate release. The release year for both the Famicom and Disk System is a bit unclear but it's speculated to have released around 1991 around the exact same time as the Hong Kong Famicom as seen in [https://youtu.be/7xAgz8Tdogc?=shared&t=60 this video] from the 1991 holiday season. I would like to see a better source for the release as well but the fact of the matter is that this release did happen in Hong Kong and is licensed by Nintendo for the region. --[[User:Bro3256|Bro3256]] ([[User talk:Bro3256|talk]]) 13:45, June 1, 2024 (EDT)

|
| Hi, Mario jc! I noticed that we are using an outdated name for the Brazilian rating board, "DEJUS", in the [[Template:Ratings|ratings template]]. No recent official material cites that agency; the practical guide (https://www.gov.br/mj/pt-br/assuntos/seus-direitos/classificacao-1/paginas-classificacao-indicativa/CLASSINDAUDIOVISUAL_Guia_27042022versaofinal.pdf) is attributed to the D''P''JUS, and the official site (https://www.gov.br/mj/pt-br/assuntos/seus-direitos/classificacao-1) also mentions the ''Coordenação de Política de Classificação Indicativa''. {{wp|Brazilian advisory rating system|Wikipedia}} changed their article name back in 2014.
| | Yeah, but I'm Italian so the entire page is full of red underlines and sometimes they don't even appear at all. --[[User:Mariuigi Khed|Mariuigi Khed]] ([[User talk:Mariuigi Khed|talk]]) 04:37, May 1, 2021 (EDT) |
|
| |
|
| The most appropriate name to use would be '''ClassInd''', shortening of "Classificação Indicativa", the name of the platform that publishes the ratings, and the one commonly used on the official sites and documents (and in general by the media and audiences). Wikipedia also uses ClassInd in the first line of their article.

| Hello [[User:Mario jc|Mario jc]], in the [[Soda Jungle]] page, Soda Jungle was the ninth property on the game board in ''[[Monopoly Gamer]]'', so it needed text about it, but before I started editing the page, ''Monopoly Gamer'' was not italicized, it needed to be italicized because ''Monopoly Gamer'' is a game. | Hello [[User:Mario jc|Mario jc]], so it turns out that you reversed my edit in the [[Frosted Glacier]] page where I put the following words [[Castle]], [[Ghost House]], and [[Tower]] in lowercase, the reason why this was done is because these words are not proper nouns in a name or a [[Mario]] game from the [[Super Mario (franchise)|''Super Mario'' (franchise)]]. English does not use capital letters in paragraphs unless if it is the word at the start of the paragraph or proper nouns, like Mario and [[Bowser]] as an example, so can we lowercase these page links please? {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:49, June 29, 2024 (EDT)

| Hello [[User:Mario jc|Mario jc]], so I responded to your message about the formatting of [[Ghost House]], here's an example of it being in lowercase, I kindly ask you to go to the [[Frosted Glacier]] page, then look under the page history and click on the revision that was made on March 17, 2024, as that is the revision before I started changing that page, then look under the [[Frosted Glacier#Levels|levels]] section, then look at the ''[[New Super Mario Bros. | I see you've been helping Mid with his RPG item lists (and they're really helpful, good work to both!). I want to transclude some sections from list articles ([[Pi%27illo#Pi.27illo_locations]], [[List of beanholes in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team]], [[List of real world blocks in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team]]) onto the area articles ([[Mushrise Park]], [[Dozing Sands]], etc). I think it's more useful than just a small link, readers are more likely to look up the area name than a list of blocks, articles for the later ''Paper Mario'' games already do it, and I'm planning to trim down the current item lists to remove the ones already included in the block sections to avoid redundancy. Would it be possible to transclude, or do I just have to copy-paste them over? {{User:Scrooge200/sig}} 01:06, July 1, 2024 (EDT)

| Hello [[User:Mario jc|Mario jc]], so I've been a bit concerned in some instances where people are writing [[Hammer Bro]]s. or any other Bros. without the period after the "S" (e.g. <code><nowiki>[[Hammer Bro]]s</nowiki></code> instead of <code><nowiki>[[Hammer Bro]]s.</nowiki></code>). The reason there is a period at the end is because "Bro" stands for "Brother", so if there was a letter that stands for something else, you would put the period at the end, and I think that the period after "Bros" looks much better. Hope this helps, thank you so much, Mario jc. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:33, July 14, 2024 (EDT)

| Hi. Why do we have {{tem|rewrite}} and {{tem|rewrite-expand}} but no <nowiki>{{expand}}</nowiki>? The new template could be used to mean "This article is incomplete, but the existing parts are OK and don't need be rewritten". Although {{tem|stub}} addresses such cases, it is less eye-catching for editors and less feature-complete. And {{tem|construction}} only applies to articles actively being worked on. --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 03:03, August 17, 2024 (EDT)
| | Hey, so you might know me from our conversation a few weeks ago about those issues with my account and email, but here I'm asking you to help me with something: making a page. I have only been with the wiki for a few months, and in that time, I have never learned how to make a proper page for a character, place, game, or anything else, so if I wanted to make one, I need someone to either help me do it or teach me how. The page I want to make is for Yoshi's Island DS: Yoshi's Egg Toss. If you don't remember, it's listed as an Adobe Flash game on the List of Games page, and it and 2 other flash games have no pages about them. I even searched a few months ago and these 3 games have nothing about them anywhere. No screenshots, no videos, no descriptions, no music, absolutely nothing outside of their titles. But you see, today I searched around again and found that on the last day of May this year, a small channel on YouTube posted a video showing full footage of Yoshi's Egg Toss, and with this new information, I want it to have a page here. But as I said earlier, I have no experience in making a page on the wiki, and I need someone like you for that. Will you help me? --[[User:JacobH.5840|JacobH.5840]] ([[User talk:JacobH.5840|talk]]) 23:56, July 5, 2021 (EDT) |

| I would like to ask permission to create a new category about the [[Mario and Luigi's family|Mario family]]. I would put all the Mario family members (by the way, do [[Stanley]] and [[Wario]] and [[Waluigi]] count? They are [[Mario]]'s cousins in the fandom wiki) in a category named "Mario family" or "Mario and Luigi's family" or something like that. I would also like to do that with [[Princess Peach|Peach]] and [[Princess Daisy|Daisy]], [[Bowser]] and [[Bowser Jr.]], [[Donkey Kong|DK]] and [[Diddy Kong|Diddy]] and more characters that will pop in my head later. So, what do you say? Can I? And also, it was me who made you make the page [[Mama Mario]] "uneditable". Sorry.

| Hello! I recently uploaded some of the Mario Party Jamboree character icons and they were removed by you for being “blurry and upscaled.” While I appreciate your efforts to provide the most quality screenshots of the character icons, I can assure you I did not upscale the icons. I did however, remove the background of the icons, and place a white square in the background of the icons, to remove any of the excess teal background, and to make the icons look much cleaner. The white square in the background is unnoticeable and I think works as placeholders for the icons until the game is released. I’m sorry again if I come off as rude. I am a beginner for contributing on the wiki and just want to provide the best information I possibly can. Thanks so much!

|
| |
|
| Hey there, noted. However, the tracks for 'Puzzle Hustle', 'Banana, Split', and 'Senseless Census' are official and are in the sound test of the game.
| | By the way, should [[Kaitensuru Honō]] be "Kaiten suru Honō"? I know that some variants of Hepburn romanization don't insert a space for verbs derived with ''suru'', but most do if the stem is a free noun (and ''kaiten'' is). --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 03:56, August 7, 2021 (EDT) |
| As for 'Dust Buddies', that one was already on the page even though it's not an official title or in the sound test, but it is a variation of 'Iced Out', which IS in the sound test. I will redo my edits for the former three but 'Dust Buddies' is up to you if you think it's valid or not (and if not, the track section should be removed altogether not just my edit).

| So, I have been doing another run of RPGs, this time finding every item found on field and given by NPCs (per suggestion by the user Zootalo). I have completed SMRPG (original and remake) and added everything to my sandbox. After a discussion with Nightwicked Bowser, we came to the conclusion to edit the template Template:RPG item locations to include screenshots of the exact locations of the items. Problem is I don't know how to change the template properly so it won't break and it will show up on different pages differently.
| | :: How should we romanize [[Ray|マンタロウ]] and [[Jumbo Ray|エイジロウ]]? Since the タロウ and ジロウ parts are from "native" given names 太郎 and 次郎, I would romanize them as ''Mantarō'' and ''Eijirō'', but some editors seem to follow the katakana convention outlined in [[MarioWiki:Japanese#Long vowels]] and write ''Mantarou'' and ''Eijirou''. Should we clarify this issue on MW:JP? (On the other hand, people may be justified pronouncing such katakana names literally, without knowing their derivation. So if some editors pronounce them as ''Mantarou'' and ''Eijirou'', I think they're justified romanizing them so.) --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 10:14, August 24, 2021 (EDT) |

| For example: On Mario Bros. BUT On let's say the page Stardust Fields, the table with items would get two sections - Screenshot and Screenshot (Remake).

| | The documentation of {{tem|foreign names}} states that "''it is advisable to provide a source''". However, for characters like [[Mona]] with an established Chinese name, providing a source might make the reader think that the name only appears in the particular game mentioned in the source. How do I say that the name 莫娜 ''Mònà'' is universally used? |
|
| |
|
| == Typo on [[MarioWiki:Japanese]] == | | Another question: The name 莫娜 ''Mònà'' for [[Mona]] happens to be the same in Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. In this case, is it better to have separate <code>|ChiS=</code> and <code>|ChiT=</code> or is it better to use a single <code>|Chi=</code> for both? --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 05:37, August 20, 2021 (EDT) |

| In the section [[MarioWiki:Japanese#ん and ン]], the romanized words ''nihon'' and ''anna'' should be capitalized as they are proper nouns. The page has already been exhibiting proper capitalization up to the said section, offering examples like ''Bebī Mario'' and ''Ruīji'', so the said section had better do the same. --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 14:26, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

| Since there's [[Mario and Luigi's family|a page for Mario and Luigi's family]] and [[Kong#Kong family|one for DK and Diddy's]], shouldn't there be one for [[Princess Peach|Peach]] and [[Princess Daisy|Daisy]]'s family, and [[Bowser]] and [[Bowser Jr.]]'s family? And also, souldn't [[Daisy (film character)|movie Daisy]] be moved into [[Princess Daisy|normal Daisy]]? Just sayin'... I also wanna point out that every name in other language like Italian 🇮🇹 and Portuguese 🇧🇷/🇵🇹 should automatticly redirect to the page when someone searches it. I've searched "[[Koopalings|Bowsões]]" a lot of times and I didn't go to Koopalings. I think this last one is a good idea.

| | == Return of the Vandals == |
|
| |
|
| All the "citation needed" stuff I have added is only for descriptions as the exact wording is less important until the game comes out. All of them are things we know for sure what they do because we saw them in action in videos or mentioned in articles from hands on reviews (from sources I have cited). I added them so people don't have to infer what they do just from the name or combo alone, they have no context of all the hands on reviews or even different language Overview Trailer I have seen because most people don't check for sources. In fact, I tried to mimic the wording used by the ones we have seen so if there were mistakes, the wording wouldn't be completely different, I got Auto Syrup Jar's description spot on and immediately added the source to it at the same time. Another reason I did it is because mimicing the wording may cause people not to notice it is wrong immediately even after the game comes out. If I couldn't edit then, as the descriptions are a lower priority than gameplay, story, and maybe even images because the effort is just copying the text from items and tooltips, who would know to correct them without the tag pointing out they may not be completely accurate? But I get it, it is "speculation" after all, as long as it is not completely accurate, there is no point in informing wiki users of at least the basics of the facts. I am sorry I have overused citation needed for those purposes.
| | It seems like [[Special:Contributions/150.143.50.158|two]] [[Special:Contributions/67.171.154.5|vandals]] have began vandalizing the [[Feed and Seed]] and [[Sneed]] pages. | The Spanish Challenge section would probably have "You need X more" text for the "Coordinated Jump/Hammer Ace" at some point, but they are already completed in the source video so it doesn't show. That's the only part that is "speculation" as other Challenges all use that wording except the "X damage in one attack" ones, yet you removed the whole thing including the word-for-word text in Spanish which is taken directly from the source and the translation. Have you checked the source before removing them?
| | == Underwater == |
| | I'm planning on creating a page based on the underwater sections in the Mario Kart games. Is that ok? I also asked [[User:Alex95|Alex95]] for his opinion. | I am sorry I added the width to the name of the Red/Green Shell Ace, I was copying and pasting <nowiki><br/></nowiki> between all the Spanish and translation and didn't check I have the wrong thing in the clipboard as I was experimenting with the look of the table. And for the red link image, you have seen I didn't add all the red link images I could because I thought the source had obtained those badges but they didn't, so I didn't comment those two. I will remove/make them hidden them next time.
| | Oh, I just thought it was weird, as gliding and anti-gravity had their own articles while underwater didn't. Though, the [[Anti-gravity]] article is also kind of a list itself. The reason I wanted to make this page was because most of the course pages don't really mention some of the underwater sections. For example, [[Maka Wuhu]]. My idea was to make it like the anti-gravity article. {{User:WildWario/sig}} ([[User talk:WildWario|talk]]) 08:55, August 31, 2021 (EDT) |

| The only thing I disagree with is 1-Up DX removal, I have seen it worded like it somewhere before and it is changed from the other games where it is 1-Up Deluxe but I couldn't find it. Guess asking other wiki contributors for help to find a citation is not enough, now we need to have a justification for "citation needed" itself before it can be used. By the way, here is the source I already added to the page, and one just for you with a timestamp as well, thanks for the motivation.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heTepO3YNVw&t=8m3s]</ref>
