| I did see that note. perhaps should've made discussion before adding it. on one hand I understand since it just says what buttons to press, but on the other hand a game mentioning a cheat code is also a bit more complicated then just listing controls as of all the other instances (not to mention being hidden and games rarely mention secret codes like that ingame) then theres the instance of the code in Bowser's Inside Story, which is also on the page. True they do mention hearing the 'buttons' being pressed, but it's still essentialy passing secret info meant for the player, and again a bit more special then the usual "press 'this button' to do 'this'.[[User:Pikmin theories|Pikmin theories]] ([[User talk:Pikmin theories|talk]]) 22:15, November 10, 2023 (EST)

|
| *'''Gloomy Gulch in instruction booklet''' (page 30): "''This spooky area is also haunted by the evil Kremling spirits known as Kloak and Kackle.''"

Would it be in MarioWiki's best interest for a sysop like you to edit the userpage by scaling down the image to around 70px width instead of its full width? --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 01:19, 9 February 2017 (EST) |
| *'''Gloomy Gulch in Player's guide''' (page 20): "''Don't count on meeting another living soul in this dilapidated ghost town, where even the ropes fade in and out of existence like phantoms.''"

| So, I'm back, again. New RPG, new list to create. Anyways, I'll stick to the point: Since the page for ? Blocks in Origami King is so thorough and includes EVERY SINGLE ONE, I thought: Why some pages should have only hidden blocks and this one has all. I am aware that TOK as ingame counter for them, but so does the 3DS Mario and Luigi titles and only SS has the page for the hidden ones. So, I propose these two scenarios:
| | This is all thanks to [[mediawiki.org:Help:Magic words|Magic Words]]. If you don't want [[:File:External link.png|the arrow]], you can [[Special:Contributions/Mario jc|ario]] (<code><nowiki>[[Special:Contributions/Mario jc|ario]]</nowiki></code>) or {{plain link|[{{fullurl:Special:Contributions/Mario jc}} ario]}} (<code><nowiki>{{plain link|[{{fullurl:Special:Contributions/Mario jc}} ario]}}</nowiki></code>). This is just in case if {{user|Porplemontage}} decides to change the domain (URL). --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 03:41, 9 February 2017 (EST) |
|
| |
|
| Add non-hidden ? Blocks to the respective pages and then rename the pages and create the pages for the games that does not have them, such as PIT. And do it for every single RPG.

| | [[Special:ListFiles/Yes man]] - {{user|Yes man}}'s submissions kind of bug me. Is there any benefit to submitting a separate image where the background is removed? His [[:File:ChainChompSM3DL.png|latest submission]], [[:File:Chomp3DLand.png|this]] is the source. Also he only links them to the [[Template:Galleries|gallery pages]]. I say he should just upload over the previous version so we have less images to keep track of. I've also had problems with these for more examples: |

| |
|
| Same as above but only in the games that have the ? Block counter in them, such as 3DS ML games mentioned above.
| | :I can agree to an extent if the isolated version is different than the full picture but I think that {{user|Yes man}} should try making his own renders instead of using high quality uploads as his base. | Hi. So. I just finished original Bowser's Inside Story and there are quite a lot of types of blocks, namely ? Block, Attack Piece Block, Brick Block, Special ? Block, Rally Block, Empty Block, M-Block, L-Block, Body Slam Panel, Puzzle Sack Block and ! Block., so I kind of have series of questions:
| | == Protection == |
| *Special ? Block - 2 in Pump Works and 1 in Energy Hold, these ? Blocks when struck create a collumn of 5 M/L Blocks in a pattern, which then must be repeated by striking subsequent 5 ? Blocks. Since they are different from normal ? Blocks, I would like to know if we have page for this type of block so I can use it when making the list? I vaguely remember it reappearing in Paper Jam, with P Blocks added to the mix.
| |
| *M/L/! Blocks - 1 M in Energy Hold, 2 L in Pump Works and Energy Hold, ! in Plack Beach Cliff. I grouped them together since they serve the same purpose. When struck, they turn on the coins around them. Should I include them in the list even though they're technically switches? But then these four are the only "switches" that give you a reward, like a ? Block. So you can see the dilemma here.
| |
| *Body Slam Panel - In Blubble Lake, Bowser Path and Peach's Castle. They also give out rewards when struck, just like ? Blocks But due to their low number, which would be better: Include them in the list or make a section in the Body Slam page?
| |
| *Empty Block - Ten in Toad Town Mall. Only in the Mushroom Ball sidequest. Add to the list and to the Mushroom Ball page or just the MB page? I know there already are some images, but I will include new ones in preparation for when I'll play the remake. (requested by Swallow)
| |
| *Puzzle Sack Block - Same as MB - On the list and page or just the page? Here I would only edit the existing images and also to prepare it for the remake.
| |
| *As for the rest, they will be added by default, so no questions for them.

| Hi, so after little setback I started playing Sticker Star and I have a question: Since Sticker Star is the only two-screen game without any sort of minimap, should I just screenshot the non-album screen or should I keep doing it normally (two screens next to each other, like literally every other page with NDS/3DS games)? Also, there is a type of block called Paperization Block (block which appears after using Paperize and placing a sticker). Should I include them in the ? | Hi, I have a question: You know how List of ? Blocks in Paper Mario: The Origami King includes both visible and hidden blocks, right? Probably because it has a semi-block counter (the % one). I've wondered, should I combine the page I'm working on right now (List of blocks in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions) with the one for the hidden blocks from the same game (List of hidden blocks in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions

| )? I thought about it because these two games are the only ones that take the hidden blocks into account while counting the blocks in their in-game counters, unlike Paper Jam and Bowser's Inside Story remake (due to having none or very little hidden blocks). I would mark the hidden ones with the icon in the form of the Secret Specs sprite. So, what do you think? Is it a good idea or should I just finish the page and leave the other be? --[[User:Mid188|Mid188]] ([[User talk:Mid188|talk]]) 14:40, May 29, 2024 (EDT)

| | Well, there is [[vortex]] and [[portal]], but I am not sure to include them. Also there are many [[:Category:Disambiguation|disambiguation pages]] with two subjects. [[Worm hole]] is tricky because of its conjectural name. Come to think of it, it has the same problem [[beehive]] once had. {{tem|disambig}} would support my page creation. | :Imo, creating a redirect to that page on [[List of treasure boxes in Super Mario RPG (Nintendo Switch)]] would be sufficient. | Well, I have finished with remake of PMTTYD and already uploaded images for Treasure/Black Chests. I will do rest over the course of this week, but I have a question: The area east of the Petalburg is named Petal Meadows in the original but Path to Shhwonk Fortress and Shhwonk Fortress in the remake. But only the first screen is considered PtSF and the rest as SF (on the map and when UI appears). But Goombella's area Tattle considers all screens before the screen after the Thwomp as PtSF. My question is: When I will add remake info and images to the pages, should I go by map/UI or Goombella's area tattle? I ask since on the PtSF page in goes by the Tattles, not map/UI and I do not know why, but if feels wrong to me. --[[User:Mid188|Mid188]] ([[User talk:Mid188|talk]]) 17:32, July 21, 2024 (EDT)

| | |
| ==To respond to your message==
| |
| I do agree that there's been a lack of communication with the changes I'm making to articles. I think I just assumed proposals are mostly for deciding whether to create or delete stuff on the wiki. On sidenote, I think disagreements on articles (mainly if they're not part of a "set" like Mario Kart courses, Super Mario levels) are too vague and lack substance to form a proposal out of.
| |
| | |
| As for the tabber template, both cases approved by the system are comparing screenshots each showing a different iterations of something between appearances. I'm not the only one who has been doing this: if you also take a look at the Mario 64 courses, I didn't add tabber to those. The Mario Party and Mario Kart set a precedent for similar cases: if Mario party minigames can use tabber, why not WarioWare microgames too? those are minigames that have returned in later WarioWare games in very similar manner to Mario Party minigames. From what I've heard, there's a solution in place for if JavaScript doesn't work, though over time, I've both felt and realized that such circumstances would call for captioning the images to preserve the context of the images.
| |
| | |
| For show/hide, I personally love clicking between tabs and collapsible content, especially if it's collapsing an element than might clash with prose (e.g. bloated wikitables or galleries). I'm also not the only person to have been doing this, as I saw someone add to a section on the [[e-Reader]] article, which has a bloated wikitable.
| |
| | |
| The Luigi's Mansion room pages have this one 3DS image on the side that squishes the opening text, making it harder to read, which is why I added tabber on the Luigi's Mansion room pages. I try to reduce redundant headings, which can include a gallery section if it has only one image, or sections with only one or two sentences.
| |
| | |
| For [[Cranky's Lab]], other articles don't have a "Potions" heading, so I tried imagining a way to make it look consistent with other shop pages. Perhaps Inventory is an ideal heading for shop locations.
| |
| | |
| Lastly, even in wake of the disagreements, others did agree to me turning the enemy/item count on the level pages into gallery form, and that's the only change I made to some of the Super Mario level pages. | == A new glitch and a previously unknown item in Super Mario Bros. ==
| |
| | |
| Hi there! I have some potential edits for some Protected Pages that you might be interested in.
| |
| | |
| '''The newly discovered glitch in Super Mario Bros.'''
| |
| | |
| It is possible to defeat the same Lakitu twice in [https://www.mariowiki.com/World_8-2_(Super_Mario_Bros.)#Level_maps Super Mario Bros. World 8-2]. The first Lakitu begins its retreat near a bunch of brick blocks high in the air, which are hiding a secret One-Up. If you cross this threshold, the Lakitu begins its retreat like normal. If you platform on top of these bricks, you can defeat the Lakitu easily. But, if you move Mario past the threshold, the Lakitu wakes back to life on a lower yPosition, and retreats like nothing happened. If you are very quick about it, you can defeat the same Lakitu a second time. This is a very unusual bug. [https://jmp.sh/s/5M1HiqMUFF1kzcA3Obsc Here is a demonstration!] | |
| | |
| '''The previously unknown item in Super Mario Bros.'''
| |
| | |
| A [https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Super_Mario_Bros._glitches#Disappearing_Power-Ups notable glitch] in Super Mario Bros. is that two items cannot be rendered at the same time on the screen.
| |
| | |
| An implication of this is that the Beanstalk / Vine also needs to be included as one of the [https://www.mariowiki.com/Super_Mario_Bros.#Items Items] in the Super Mario Bros. article.
| |
| | |
| This is because the game considers Beanstalks to be an item.
| |
| | |
| I will prove this to you by showing that a vine cannot be rendered at the same time as an item. It is easy to make an item disappear because of a vine. But can you make a vine disappear because of an item?
| |
| | |
| In [https://www.mariowiki.com/World_3-1_(Super_Mario_Bros.:_The_Lost_Levels)#Level_map Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels World 3-1], you can do just that! Consider the close proximity of the vine block and mushroom block. [https://jmp.sh/s/J8A6SN8OwmN3bfoZAkcN Here's a gif] but you can also try it out for yourself. First hit the beanstalk box, then hit the mushroom box. The beanstalk will disappear because the game treats it like an item. Hopefully this is proof enough that Beanstalks should be considered an item along with the rest. (If it's not enough evidence, then this needs to be added as a completely new glitch in Super Mario Bros.)
| |
| | |
| A small disclaimer: I found both of these bugs on the Nintendo Switch emulation of the games. I am confident they appear on the regular NES and Arcade versions of Super Mario Bros. but it would need to be double checked obviously.
| |
| | |
| I am fascinated with glitches, and I hope these can be added to the notoriously short [https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Super_Mario_Bros._glitches List of Super Mario Bros. glitches]. Thank you!
| |
| | |
| One last note, does the list of glitches contain the one where you fall directly on top of a vine or the flagpole? For some reason I can't find it in the list, I thought that was a rather popular one.

| == An uncovered collective name ==
| |
| | |
| The cards needed to play minigames at the [[Pianta Parlor]] in ''[[Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]'' — the [[Special Card]], the [[Silver Card]], the [[Gold Card]], and the [[Platinum Card]] — are collectively called Member's Cards. The name appears four times in the game:
| |
| * [[Lahla]]: "''Oh! Mario! That card! You got a <u>Member's Card</u>! OK. I'll prepare the mini-game you can play with that <u>Member's Card</u>. How exciting!''"
| |
| * An unnamed [[Goomba]] in Pianta Parlor: "''Whuzzat, now? You wanna know how to get a <u>Member's Card</u>, do ya?''" | |
| * [[Wonky]]: "''If you want to try it, you'll have to find a <u>Member's Card</u> somewhere...''"
| |
| | |
| What should we do?
| |
| * Do not cover the name.
| |
| * Create a page for the name, using the singular form. This would make the page hard to categorize. For example, if we put it in [[:Category:Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door special items]], it would appear to be another special item rather than a collective name. | |
| * Create a page for the name, using the plural form. This doesn't seem to be wiki practice, and the plural form is unattested in the game.
| |
| * Redirect the name to [[Pianta Parlor]]. Seems to be a good idea, but this would make [[Pianta Parlor]] a two-subject page, possibly with two bolded names in the introductory part. | |

| Currently we have the following three pages:
| |
| * [[List of minor NPCs in Paper Mario]]
| |
| * [[List of minor NPCs in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]
| |
| * [[List of unnamed NPCs in Super Paper Mario]]
| |
| | |
| The inconsistency in their names is due to historical reasons. These pages were really about characters not covered on the wiki, which, due to [[SMW:NPC]], are the ''minor'' (unimportant to storyline), ''unnamed'' NPCs. I initially went with "List of Minor NPCs …" because it was the only capitalized term at the time, which means I had to mention the minor-but-named characters, duplicating info available elsewhere on the wiki. I didn't use it for ''Super Paper Mario'' because the number of minor-but-named characters far outweighs the minor-but-unnamed ones in that game. Since the term was later [https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?diff=3833486 decapitalized], would it be a good idea to change all three pages to "unnamed NPCs", for consistency? --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 22:03, February 5, 2024 (EST)

However, I can't help but notice that a lot of users have multiple signatures that are used throughout the year, which technically breaks this rule. I'll get to updating [[Help:Image]] eventually. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 01:40, 8 May 2017 (EDT) |
| | ::Thanks for updating the help page. A few problems with the revisions you made to my draft. Firstly, I purposely chose to remove anything related to inserting text like this <code><nowiki>[[Media:Video.ogv]]</nowiki></code> because what if someone wants to view the file page to make an upload fix or something? I know that {{tem|media link}} exists. Yes, being able to directly download the media is compromised this way, but {{tem|media table}} does this with videos. Also, the MediaWiki software has a box below the HTML5 player to download the file directly anyways if you use the <code><nowiki>[[File:Audio.oga]]</nowiki></code> or <code><nowiki>[[Image:Audio.oga]]</nowiki></code> method of linking. I also thought that ''acceptable content'' should be the first header instead of being a sub-header of audio and video because that needs to be upfront before anyone gets to work creating media files. I chose to change that header to ''Uploading and Embedding'' because ''audio and video'' is what the help page is already describing as my change is more descriptive how to work with media files. The only thing I thought was fair enough was the removal of an example formatting of how to use {{tem|media table}}. The draft was designed to be thorough and decisive. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 03:11, 8 May 2017 (EDT) |

| Hello, Mario JC! I would just like to mention that earlier you might recall blocking me and some other “Sockpuppet” of me. Well, I just would like to mention that… um, that sockpuppet was my best friend! He created an account around the same time as I did, and he showed me that he was BLOOCKED INDEFINITELY! Now, I have NO CLUE how our IP’s got mixed up (Probably due to how we use MarioWiki during free time at school) but either way you blocked him accidentally. And I know exactly that HE is the sockpuppet because he was blocked by you, too, and that we were blocked at the same time. Could you please unblock him? | Hello! Out of curiosity, I have a question regarding game-specific templates if it's a case-by-case basis, thinking about how SMB3 wouldn't be included in the level articles, but for example DKC is present in the [[Reptile_Rumble|level articles]] of the game. But that maybe is a relic from the merge?
| | What the hell do you mean for this: |
|

|
| ;[[MarioWiki:Navigation_templates#Game-specific templates|Game-specific templates]]:...These auxiliary game-specific templates only need to go on the articles of subjects that concern them (e.g. the NSMB2 level articles) and the game page itself. | == I've got a question about a proposal that I made. ==
| | I have noticed that the redirect page [[Inklings]] has been deleted, simply for being a plural redirect. | Hello! I was wondering if you've played Princess Peach: Showtime enough to help me out with something. I made [[Talk:Sparkle#Rename this page and make another, similar page as there are two different uses of the word Sparkle.|this proposal]] recently. I thought all was well and that my reasoning was correct until I noticed something on the [[Radiant Peach]] page. There is a currently-unmade page titled [[Sparkla Spirit]] that I think may be exactly what Stella was referring to in the quote that I based my proposal evidence around. If this is the case, it would mean that I'd have to change and/or delete my proposal as it would not be needed. However, I have not made it to the part of the game where the Sparkla Spirit(s) are directly mentioned, so I don't know what to do. Can you please help me figure this out by reading my proposal and getting back to me on whether it's necessary for me to keep it up? If you haven't played Princess Peach: Showtime! enough to help me, can you please point me to someone who you know has played through the game enough to verify my proposal evidence and/or could help me take my next steps? (If you're thinking of voting on the proposal in question, please don't do so until I figure out what to do!!) Thank you! -- {{User:FanOfRosalina2007/sig}} 16:51, April 10, 2024 (EDT)
| | A plural redirect does not meet the three criteria listed above; the redirect "Inklings" does not constitute "completely nonsensical", it is specific enough, and the search function does not automatically take the user to said page without the redirect. |
| :Update: I have temporarily cancelled the proposal until I figure out what a [[Sparkla Spirit]] is. I may reinstate the proposal later if I can still go through with it. Thank you for your time. -- {{User:FanOfRosalina2007/sig}} 19:13, April 10, 2024 (EDT)

[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Redirect#Do_not_%22fix%22_links_to_redirects_that_are_not_broken Wikipedia has a rundown] on why linking to redirects on articles is actually good practice (and probably better than piping), and the reasons here seem solid. | Just to be clear, yes Nintendo officially did release the Disk System in Hong Kong. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXuVDUUmYyo This commercial] is more than enough proof that this is a legitimate release. The release year for both the Famicom and Disk System is a bit unclear but it's speculated to have released around 1991 around the exact same time as the Hong Kong Famicom as seen in [https://youtu.be/7xAgz8Tdogc?=shared&t=60 this video] from the 1991 holiday season. I would like to see a better source for the release as well but the fact of the matter is that this release did happen in Hong Kong and is licensed by Nintendo for the region. --[[User:Bro3256|Bro3256]] ([[User talk:Bro3256|talk]]) 13:45, June 1, 2024 (EDT)

| == Question == | | == NSMB levels == |
|
| |
|
| Hi, Mario jc! I noticed that we are using an outdated name for the Brazilian rating board, "DEJUS", in the [[Template:Ratings|ratings template]]. No recent official material cites that agency; the practical guide (https://www.gov.br/mj/pt-br/assuntos/seus-direitos/classificacao-1/paginas-classificacao-indicativa/CLASSINDAUDIOVISUAL_Guia_27042022versaofinal.pdf) is attributed to the D''P''JUS, and the official site (https://www.gov.br/mj/pt-br/assuntos/seus-direitos/classificacao-1) also mentions the ''Coordenação de Política de Classificação Indicativa''. {{wp|Brazilian advisory rating system|Wikipedia}} changed their article name back in 2014.
| | Hey sorry about all that with the last few NSMB levels, I was legitimately unaware of Puzzle & Dragons also having those levels; hell, I even forgot that game existed until I saw all of what you did lol. I just wanted to apologize for my screw up and making you do a lot of extra maintenance, and I'll try to be more aware of things in the future. {{User:Lord Bowser/sig}} 10:36, 1 June 2017 (EDT) |
|
| |
|
| The most appropriate name to use would be '''ClassInd''', shortening of "Classificação Indicativa", the name of the platform that publishes the ratings, and the one commonly used on the official sites and documents (and in general by the media and audiences). Wikipedia also uses ClassInd in the first line of their article.

First, please test [[User:Wildgoosespeeder/Help:Media#FFMPEG To Theora+Vorbis OGG File GUI|a program I created]], if you have any edition of [[Wikipedia:Microsoft Windows|Windows]]. You need video files, such as game recordings in an emulator or something. If the video is compatible with FFMPEG, it will work with my GUI. I need you to report any errors or shortcomings. Follow directions how to get FFMPEG setup with my program. Convert the video files and see if it produces a valid OGV. You can open OGVs in VLC Media Player and [[Help:Media#Browser support|any web browser that supports the format]]. This program is how I was able to upload [[:File:SMW Eat Control Coin glitch.ogv]]. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 01:49, 8 June 2017 (EDT) |
| | :I don't use emulators, so I used a short game capture video for your program. It seems to have converted to OGV successfully; no issues in the conversion process as far as I can tell, though an exception error does come up if you don't have ffmpeg.exe or the Output folder in the same folder, even if it asks to download/create it. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 07:52, 8 June 2017 (EDT) |
| | ::Sounds normal. The messages only pop-up if the exe and directory don't exist. It's error correcting and more descriptive so that way the program doesn't crash or give an unhandled exception. You can keep the program running and put the exe in the same folder as the program. Click convert again and the conversion should work as expected, putting the output file in the output folder you specified (after you OK any directories that don't exist and want to create it). --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 15:43, 8 June 2017 (EDT) |

I think it's more useful than just a small link, readers are more likely to look up the area name than a list of blocks, articles for the later ''Paper Mario'' games already do it, and I'm planning to trim down the current item lists to remove the ones already included in the block sections to avoid redundancy. The reason there is a period at the end is because "Bro" stands for "Brother", so if there was a letter that stands for something else, you would put the period at the end, and I think that the period after "Bros" looks much better. | Hello! I recently uploaded some of the Mario Party Jamboree character icons and they were removed by you for being “blurry and upscaled.” While I appreciate your efforts to provide the most quality screenshots of the character icons, I can assure you I did not upscale the icons. I did however, remove the background of the icons, and place a white square in the background of the icons, to remove any of the excess teal background, and to make the icons look much cleaner. The white square in the background is unnoticeable and I think works as placeholders for the icons until the game is released. I’m sorry again if I come off as rude. I am a beginner for contributing on the wiki and just want to provide the best information I possibly can. Thanks so much!

|
| == Mario Party Tracks ==
| | Hello there! I have a question about two rules, or rather what happens when two rules both apply: "[[MarioWiki:Categories#Placement_on_articles|If a subject-specific category can be split further [...], use only the most specific category.]]" and "[[MarioWiki:Categories#Size_and_scope|Non-series/game/console/etc.-specific categories need a minimum of five entries, [...].]]" To use [[:Category:Politicians]] as an example, a lot of its entries overlap with its subcategory, [[:Category:Mayors]]. Removing the redundant entries, per the first rule I mentioned, would result in there only being six non-mayor politicians left. This is still technically allowed, but what would happen if, by removing the mayors from the politician category, there were four or less entries left? According to the second rule, the category wouldn't technically be valid, even if there are several articles that actually belong under it; they're just nested in a subcategory. Any discussions about the two categories being merged or otherwise removing one of them can be set aside for the time being. It's a discussion worth having, but I am currently interested in the question that I asked you. Simply put, is a non-series/game/etc. category valid if it has less than five entries, but has a subcategory with more than five entries? {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 00:51, 19 July 2017 (EDT) |

| So, I have been doing another run of RPGs, this time finding every item found on field and given by NPCs (per suggestion by the user Zootalo). I have completed SMRPG (original and remake) and added everything to my sandbox. After a discussion with Nightwicked Bowser, we came to the conclusion to edit the template Template:RPG item locations to include screenshots of the exact locations of the items. Problem is I don't know how to change the template properly so it won't break and it will show up on different pages differently.
| | :Please try to explain your point more thoroughly next time. There's nothing wrong with linking in quotes, if that's what you're asking. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 03:31, 20 July 2017 (EDT) |

| |
|
| For example: On Mario Bros. House page, in the Paper Mario section is the one item - Autograph and PM doesnt have remake (yet), so the table created by the template would gain one section named Screenshot. BUT On let's say the page Stardust Fields, the table with items would get two sections - Screenshot and Screenshot (Remake).

If you want all of the boots, hammer, wear, and gloves each has a source, I will add them.

|
| All the "citation needed" stuff I have added is only for descriptions as the exact wording is less important until the game comes out. All of them are things we know for sure what they do because we saw them in action in videos or mentioned in articles from hands on reviews (from sources I have cited). I added them so people don't have to infer what they do just from the name or combo alone, they have no context of all the hands on reviews or even different language Overview Trailer I have seen because most people don't check for sources. In fact, I tried to mimic the wording used by the ones we have seen so if there were mistakes, the wording wouldn't be completely different, I got Auto Syrup Jar's description spot on and immediately added the source to it at the same time. Another reason I did it is because mimicing the wording may cause people not to notice it is wrong immediately even after the game comes out. If I couldn't edit then, as the descriptions are a lower priority than gameplay, story, and maybe even images because the effort is just copying the text from items and tooltips, who would know to correct them without the tag pointing out they may not be completely accurate? But I get it, it is "speculation" after all, as long as it is not completely accurate, there is no point in informing wiki users of at least the basics of the facts. I am sorry I have overused citation needed for those purposes.
| | So do [https://www.mariowiki.com/Special:ListFiles/Super_Radio all DKCTF screenshots that I have uploaded lately] go against the policy? I used the Wii U Image Share service to take them, and they were originally jpg images. Should every single one be deleted and recaptured in jpg, or can they just be converted back to their original format? -- {{User:Super Radio/Sig}} |
| | :Okay, then... there's a grand total of about 350 pictures that were originally jpg (counted from when I started uploading in PNG format), so I'm gonna need a wee bit of help :) |
| | ::I used Photoshop to simply save them as PNGs. After you reply to this message, I will start saving the existing images, then I will convert them back to JPEG in Photoshop, as I am not willing to download any other conversion software. Problem is, the size of the converted JPEG file is bigger than that of the raw JPEG file, <s>and I have deleted almost all original images. I messed up so badly, sorry for being so stupid...</s> Hold on, I discovered they were just lurking in the Recycle Bin. Not all of them, but most; I don't have the pictures from [[Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze|here]] anymore. As for level and [[Capsule Toy Machine]]-related images, they're up and about! -- {{User:Super Radio/Sig}} |
| | :::Alright! We should get started, but how do we organize ourselves? Will you begin by deleting the PNGs one-by-one as you said and then I come and replace them with JPEGs, or vice-versa? -- {{User:Super Radio/Sig}} |
| | Just to clarify policy ([[MarioWiki:Proposals/Archive 46#Prohibit Converting Between GIF, JPEG, and PNG Formats|because I proposed it and it passed]]), the conversion {{user|Super Radio}} did shouldn't have happened in the first place. It was so much effort with little payoff. The policy applies to both JPEGs that weren't uploaded to {{SITENAME}} yet as well as already uploaded JPEGs being converted to PNG. It was meant to defend against uploads like [[:File:Thwomp Wario's Woods.png]], originally done by {{user|Xaq}}, but eventually redone by me. Another protection is fan transparency on JPEGs of artwork, because JPEGs are incapable of transparency. Editors should just wait to see if a lossless alternative turns up. This shouldn't be confused with recaptures, which I do and doesn't violate the policy in any way. A lot of confusion stems from what the difference is between conversion and replacing and how JPEG and PNG formats work. If that needs to be clarified, just ask me about it. Editing this wiki has gotten me ridiculously experienced with image formats. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 16:39, 30 July 2017 (EDT) |
| | :Yes, yes, I know! My actions were driven by the thought that someone would apply PNG Monstrous on the images and that would make them more compact. I had forgotten the image policy, though I had read it beforehand. So my decision to convert the pictures to PNG after taking them was idiotic to put it shortly. Sorry for that. -- {{User:Super Radio/Sig}} |

| The Spanish Challenge section would probably have "You need X more" text for the "Coordinated Jump/Hammer Ace" at some point, but they are already completed in the source video so it doesn't show. That's the only part that is "speculation" as other Challenges all use that wording except the "X damage in one attack" ones, yet you removed the whole thing including the word-for-word text in Spanish which is taken directly from the source and the translation. Have you checked the source before removing them?
| | == Italics == |
|
| |
|
| I am sorry I added the width to the name of the Red/Green Shell Ace, I was copying and pasting <nowiki><br/></nowiki> between all the Spanish and translation and didn't check I have the wrong thing in the clipboard as I was experimenting with the look of the table. And for the red link image, you have seen I didn't add all the red link images I could because I thought the source had obtained those badges but they didn't, so I didn't comment those two. I will remove/make them hidden them next time.
| | You claimed on an [[User_talk:93.217.91.20|anon's talk page]] that italics shouldn't be used for Kodansha manga. [[MarioWiki:Manual of Style#Italicizing titles]] contradicts this, saying print publications should be. This is done with ''[[Nintendo Power]]'', so I don't see why Kodansha should be different. {{User:Alex95/sig}} 12:08, 1 August 2017 (EDT) |

| The only thing I disagree with is 1-Up DX removal, I have seen it worded like it somewhere before and it is changed from the other games where it is 1-Up Deluxe but I couldn't find it. Guess asking other wiki contributors for help to find a citation is not enough, now we need to have a justification for "citation needed" itself before it can be used. By the way, here is the source I already added to the page, and one just for you with a timestamp as well, thanks for the motivation.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heTepO3YNVw&t=8m3s]</ref>
