| The information above is only us trying to help you. I understand there are a lot of policies and things you have to keep in mind, but things will get easier so long as you take your time. That said, you should not remove other people's comments, as a talk page is meant to be a history of conversations, and you should not continuously revert them being put back. While it was kept to this talk page, content should not be continuously changing. If you are having trouble, please let someone know, but we will not ban upon request. | Hello, you have been blocked for two weeks. You have been warned multiple times to not edit war with other users; if you have an issue with an edit, either bring it up on the article's talk page or on another user's talk page. In addition, edit summaries are not to be used to belittle or insult other users, which on top of your past history and infractions, was also taken account into your block. {{User:Ray Trace/sig}} 15:39, February 16, 2021 (EST)

| == Header capitalisation ==
| |
|
| |
| Words in section and table headers that aren't proper nouns [[MarioWiki:Manual_of_Style#Capitalization_and_italics|should not be capitalised]] (unless it's the first word), so "Level Appearances" should be "level appearances". This also applies to anything that doesn't have an official capitalised name ("Rising Water", "Pillar Dirt Trap" etc. shouldn't be capitalised).
| |
|
| |
| Also, make sure links use the current article title ("Flashing Shell" should be "[[Shell (flashing)]]", but it can be piped to change the display text: <code><nowiki>[[Shell (flashing)|Flashing shell]]</nowiki></code>). Linking to the castle levels like "[[#1 Iggy's Castle]]" also doesn't work because "#" is used in wiki code to link to a section on a page (e.g. [[#Articles]] links to the first post on this talk page). The castle articles omit the "#" in the title, so the article is [[1 Iggy's Castle]] and the link should be linked like: <code><nowiki>[[1 Iggy's Castle|#1 Iggy's Castle]]</nowiki></code>. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 09:53, August 25, 2022 (EDT)

|

| Yes sir. {{User:LgndKing/sig}} 10:35, August 25, 2022 (EDT)
| |
|
| |
| <hr>
| |
|
| |
| You should also be aware of section levels when adding new sections (the number of equal signs when typing them in). If you look at [[Help:Editing#Sections, paragraphs, lists, and lines]], sections with more equal signs are direct ''sub''-sections of the section before it, so something related to ''Super Mario World'' on an enemy page, like a "List of level appearances" section, should be '''one level under''' the "''Super Mario World''" section:
| |
|
| |
| <pre>
| |
| ==History==
| |
| ===''Super Mario'' series===
| |
| ====''Super Mario World''====
| |
| =====List of level appearances=====
| |
| </pre>
| |
|
| |
| So two equal signs (<code><nowiki>==List of level appearances==</nowiki></code>) is incorrect, because this doesn't put it under "''Super Mario World''", and it wrongly treats every other section on the article under it as part of this section.
| |
|
| |
| Similarly, "Traps and obstacles" on the ''Origami King'' page are not "other species", so it should be its own section rather than a sub-section:
| |
|
| |
| <pre>
| |
| ==Enemies==
| |
|
| |
| ==Other species==
| |
|
| |
| ==Traps and obstacles==
| |
| </pre>
| |
|
| |
| Again, don't capitalise non-proper nouns in headings, so "Obstacles" should be "obstacles". However, "Paper Mistake" (from Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle) and "Dry Bones" are names, so these should be capitalised, not lowercase. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 02:29, August 29, 2022 (EDT)
| |
|
| |
| You're still capitalising normal nouns in headers and titles. "Objects" should not be in capitals. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 03:23, April 21, 2023 (EDT)

| == SPP stages ==
| |
|
| |
| Hey, just so you know, the 7th, 8th, and 9th stages in each world are actually bonus stages that can only be accessed once Bowser is beaten, affecting how they would be listed for an entity's first or last appearance in them. | == Wario Land 3's Enemy First Appearances and Last Appearances ==
| |
|
| |
| I'm curious about something: have you played ''[[Wario Land 3]]''? The reason I am asking this is due to the addition of the "First appearance" and "Last appearance" columns in the enemy section. From what I see, the criteria on what a first level is is just the first level in the order, and likewise for the last level, without factoring in when the enemy is able to be encountered by the order of the levels and treasures in which they are unlocked.
| |
|
| |
| Wario Land 3 is a non-linear game, more so than pretty much every other Wario Land game, so the order in which the levels are tackled is not set. As an example, [[The Warped Void]] is always unlocked after [[Forest of Fear]], which would technically make it the last level, even though Forest of Fear is the last level in level order. Even then, [[Above the Clouds (Wario Land 3)]] can also be unlocked after The Warped Void, which might not make either Forest of Fear or The Warped Void the last level (this notably affects the bird enemies). For an example of an enemy, there is the Doughnuteer. The area that you encounter the Doughnuteer in [[Out of the Woods]] can't be accessed in the beginning even though it is technically the first level you unlocked, while they are encountered normally in [[The Peaceful Village]], which makes it their true first appearance. Since Out of the Woods can also be the last level you play (the Doughnuteer is in the Blue Chest area, which is the last one you unlock before you can battle the final boss), doesn't that basically mean Doughnuteer appears in Out of the Woods last? Another example are the snakes. They are unlocked simultaneously in three different levels after you get a necessary treasure, where previously only the pots appear in those levels, so their first appearances are actually in three levels that you previously unlocked instead of just The Peaceful Village.
| |
|
| |
| My point here is that even first and last appearances is muddied if you take into account the game's non-linearity.
| |
|
| |
| I understand that you want to help out, but I think that for this game, it's not quite accurate to give enemies a first and last appearance when the level order you tackle is not linear. Maybe only the first appearance can be listed, but it should be done with an understanding of how the levels are unlocked and which part of the area is unlocked to allow those enemies to be encountered. | == Star Piece Cluster in SMG ==
| |
|
| |
| Howdy! Thanks for contributing to the Mario 64 and Galaxy pages, and the great work you've done overall. I've been taking screenshots of the game's objects through [https://noclip.website/ noclip.website], but I cannot track down a Star Piece Cluster. Do you remember where they appear in Mario Galaxy? I know they show up, I just cannot remember where exactly and they aren't as common as they are in SMG2. Our own articles on the wiki don't explicitly mention where they show up either. No worries if you don't know - just thought I'd ask. Thanks again! - [[User:Nintendo101|Nintendo101]] ([[User talk:Nintendo101|talk]]) 12:30, April 21, 2023 (EDT)

| == Citations ==
| |
|
| |
| Read [[MarioWiki:Citations]] for how to properly cite sources. References aren't added like this:
| |
|
| |
| <pre><ref name=URL/></pre>
| |
|
| |
| Make sure you check the reference number links you're adding; if you do, you'll see this doesn't work. The format should go like this (for YouTube videos):
| |
|
| |
| <pre><ref name=Video1>Uploader (Upload date). [URL Videotitle]. ''YouTube''. Retrieved edit date.</pre>
| |
|
| |
| Example:
| |
|
| |
| <pre><ref name=SMBWDirect>Nintendo of America (August 31, 2023). [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0m_uNaSres Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct 8.31.2023]. ''YouTube''. Retrieved September 2, 2023.</ref></pre>
| |
|
| |
| Then if you want to cite the same source multiple times, you just type:
| |
|
| |
| <pre><ref name=Video1/></pre>
| |
|
| |
| The reference name ("Video1") can be named whatever you want, as long as it's not used by another source on the article, it fits the reference, and it's the same every time the source is used. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 22:09, October 14, 2023 (EDT)

| == Asterisk ==
| |
|
| |
| The point of the asterisk is so it's placed ''next'' to the name, and like the note at the top of the "items and objects" sections says, it's for ''new'' elements only. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 21:26, November 21, 2023 (EST)
