Hi. I think you should try to get less personally bothered at things like Mario's height. I think you're assuming malice on the game designers' and wiki authors' parts when none likely exists. And I also think you should tone down on the strong imagery you invoke from the motives you have of your potential debaters (the "nailing me to a cross and burning it down" part is a bit much, as with portraying people you anticipate disagreeing with you with condescending all-caps). {{User:Bazooka Mario/sig}} 18:21, June 24, 2019 (EDT)
:^ Yes, first of all, calm down. This is a very small thing to be bothered about. I like that you feel strongly about this and want to get the details correct, but you are taking this way too personally.
:As for the matter at hand, the source is still valid, however incorrect it may seem, because it is an officially licensed product with an officially licensed description, afaik. Mario's height (as well as other characters') is inconsistent between games, and I wrote there's no official statement on Mario's true height at the end of the paragraph. Sure, the Amazon thing could probably be rewritten, or removed if enough people think it should be (or proven to be unofficial), but it doesn't belong in a trivia section because it fits in the paragraph about Mario's height. ::I'm gonna try to be more calm about this, because I feel bad that I feel like I'm starting to revert back to how I behaved when I was 16, but I've said so many times that "Life Size" in context is not really literal, or we are at least unsure if it is. Just because Nintendo licensed the product, does not mean that it's a source for Mario's canon height, otherwise there wouldn't be so much "Life Size" merchandise that is all over the place in height, especially when they were so specific about how they scaled Bowser in a single Wreck-it Ralph scene, then all "Life Size" Mario merch should be a specific set height, which they aren't, and to document that, to me, just makes the Mario height thing all the more confusing (and maybe you've all misunderstood because I've been getting so frustrated over it, but the only things that personally bother me about the statue is that I am under 5 and a half feet tall and it makes New Donk City look like a joke that people who told me I was the size of a 12 year old would laugh at and that when this wiki has something that isn't really 100% confirmed, people act like it's confirmed anyway, for example, the "Larry is the same size as Princess Peach" thing I had to fix, and they told me I was wrong even though it was so obvious, and I'm the Larry fan) But all that is besides the main point, because I kinda have a problem where I ramble on about my feelings I should probably take care of, because the main point I'm trying to get across is that "Life Size" in this context, probably isn't literal, and something that you aren't sure if it's true or not, probably shouldn't be documented as true, when the truth is your unsure if they actually mean that it is the true height of Mario or it is just a big size. But I think it just means that it's a big size, but regardless, I don't feel it's very appropriate for this wiki to be documenting that as a source for Mario's height unless they specifically state that "Yes, these merchandise depict Mario's canon height even though they're all different" so I'd say in the meantime, it probably isn't very appropriate to use that statue as a source of reference in the physical description. Anyway, I apologize about getting so worked up, I really don't want to revert back to being an angry jerk. Publications can make mistakes. One inconsistency like that doesn't automatically make the rest of the publication inaccurate or untrustworthy, nor is it something you'd mention here as a sidenote like "This is also the same source that made this mistake." Also, you should read [[MarioWiki:Canonicity]]. I guess you do have a point, hahah, and I DO like the idea of Larry's role model being the most irresponsible one of his siblings who never takes things seriously, hahah! Like the point you brought up, for all I know, that source easily could have just made a mistake. (Though at the same time, I want to see if there is a Japanese equivalent and if it says the same thing or not, since pretty much anything canon for this series will come from Japan as it's source since the creator of Mario is Japanese) however, I do want you to know that "there is no canonical fact" isn't really true when it comes to Mario. The Mario series does, in fact, have a canon (A friend of mine, or at least I consider him my friend, I don't know if he considers me one, has proven it to me) and I know that even if you'll say Mario doesn't have a "canon" you should know that the characters are at least consistently written between games. I'm unsure if you're annoyed with me or not, but I think you seem reasonable enough (if my judgement is correct) I'll risk it anyway. To bring up some of those Japanese quotes, the Japanese version of Color Splash has deliberately made a couple references to past games in Larry's dialogue (also proving the Japanese Instruction Booklet for Super Mario Bros 3 to be canon) such as making a Super Mario Bros 3 reference through Larry's quote "Ahaha! It was really, really good! Why don't you become a chef? Uh, I don't have time to talk here. I have to defeat you before the train arrives at starlight cape, if I don't bring back the Big Paint Star, scary Lord Bowser is going to scold me! Well then, let's have a showdown here!" which had been changed in the US version into "You grill a mean steak, Mario. You should have been a chef! At least that way, you would’ve had a nice long culinary experience. But instead, I’m gonna cook you up a tuna-fist sandwich before we get to Starlight Cape! Lord Bowser is expecting the Big Paint Star, and I have no intention of disappointing him. Have you even seen his disappointed face? It’s heartbreaking! Enough small talk. Let’s get this over with." as well as through his dialogue after losing the fight "...e? No way... Oh no! What should I do, I... I lost! Lord Bowser is going to scold me, I’m scared and I can’t go home! Better yet... I’ll just fly away somewhere!" which had been changed into "WHAT...?! No! This can’t be... I... I lost! I can’t ever face Lord Bowser again! I’ll have to go on the lam. No, maybe I’ll go on the lamb... Lamb chops sound pretty good righ-" both of which in the Japanese version were a reference to Larry's quote "There are a total of 7 wands we managed to steal from those idiot kings. My siblings and I have one each. I'm not going to give mine away so easily because I don't want to get yelled at by my old man!" from the Super Mario Bros 3 Japanese Instruction Booklet. But not just that, but there was a line of dialogue in Color Splash that also made reference to a character trait from Paper Jam as well through his quote "Ahaha! Just as I plotted, you jumped right into the game!" which was changed into probably his worst quote "Ahaaaaaaaaa! I love the smell of impending doom!" which I'm fairly certain was a reference to Larry's character trait where he claims to have this big plan that everything is going according to that he doesn't actually have, such as when he claimed losing was all part of his plan in Paper Jam (which is true to the Japanese version, I don't know for sure what it says since I haven't asked a Japanese speaker to translate it, but google translate is translating him saying something about "calculations" he claims to have, which makes me believe the US quote was accurate). How I know that him saying Mario getting into the battle was his plan was probably not actually his plan was that his attitude from before that contradicts it, whereas he said "Ah, Mario. You caught up with me? Not bad. I wanted to rest a little more since I ate a lot at the restaurant, but since you’ve caught up with me, I guess there’s no helping it." admitting he wanted to rest a little more, but Mario caught up with him, so oh well. This was changed into "Took you long enough, pal... I’m almost done digesting that giant steak I ate." I guess if it wasn't obvious, Larry seems more innocent (and consistent between games) in Japan, hahah! If it wasn't for the changes the US version made, I probably would have never thought that his character was differently written in Color Splash and Paper Jam at any point, because it would have been undeniably consistent, hahah! But I did realize the character is consistent between games even behind all the weird localization problems. I apologize for the giant text wall, heheh, just figured I could bring that up since I guess you seem reasonable enough. I think the Japanese and English localization differences should be made known on the wiki since there can be pretty blatant differences, perhaps on his list of quotes pages that show "Insert game here Japanese version" and change the existing ones into "Insert game here English version", and I'm kinda against having "Ahaaaaaaaaa! I love the smell of impending doom!" on the front of Larry's page since that's a US exclusive and out of character quote, saying that Larry was accurately supposed to say that quote is like saying Mario murdered the Koopalings at one point because of US exclusive Super Mario World end of castle dialogue. Or if it does have to be on the front of his page, I'd think it'd be better to show that one as "English version" and show it alongside the Japanese quote. Believe me when I say I just want to help by sharing this kind of thing. There was also giving the quotes the complete opposite meaning such as "Ah, Mario! You caught up with me?
