I would never lie about the existence of a glitch, especially this one. I tested it on the actual console and I assure you it works for me, but I don't know if it works on an emulator. I'd assume the glitch would be more likely to work when 120 stars are collected, since that is how Mario was when I performed the glitch. It was also on File D. Make sure while collecting the star you are actually inside on the inside of the third floor, and not on the outside. When I say 'Big Mr. I', I mean the boss battle that leaves a star when defeated. I do know that collecting a Vanish cap after performing the glitch resets the sound. Perhaps it works dependent on the console being a different revision? Mine was made in 1996 and is listed as NUS-001. I think later versions of the console use a slightly different set of chips, (reason Stop 'N' Swop was discontinued was RAM became less permanent), so perhaps your console won't work for that reason. It also could be dependent on the Cartridge. The one I have says it is part of the Player's Choice version, according to a seal on the label. You need to trust me on the existence of this glitch. I don't have recording equipment, but you should try tell another person about the instructions and see if it works. I might try to record something if it is REALLY, REALLY, necessary (because I have very little experience in that skill). But I want to exhaust every last option before doing that.

:I'm just asking for a better source, because I have done it quite a good number of times. With multiple conditions (120 Stars, File D) and even tried to do it Hatfull (if that's a word :P) once and Hatless another. I asked for a better source for multiple reasons, most importantly that the video shows a different route, so if the glitch happens in both routes then probably most of this work is unnecessary. And looking by it's length, it really looks like it. I tried it on the NTSC-U version of the game. I really doubt any glitch in existence (other than cartridge tilting glitches maybe, but that's another story) is specific to a version of console rather than a version of game. I feel like I'm messing a whole bunch of movement in my route that may be the responsible for this glitch. And you don't really need to use a tool or anything to record from your TV. Just use your laptop's camera, your web-camera or even your phone's one. And if that's an option, then can you try to manipulate this on an emulator, and if it works record it. Sorry, I'm asking for much but I've been playing SM64 for more than 9 years, and I cannot let any small detail bypass without my command :P--{{User:Dashbot/sig}} 14:20, 28 December 2014 (EST)
Hey, did you find the BBH bookcase glitch? The video is down. Could you see if you have it cached in your browser? --ethan white
:Sorry, I do not. I think the video was called "Beat the Books", and its premise was that the people watching would try to repeat the feat shown in the video. This video has been private or deleted since September 2015 (according to a google groups request?). I don't think it exceeded 10000 views, and the uploader may have been German somehow.  I'm not sure, you could ask around to see if you can find the original uploader.
But through some investigating, I have noticed some strange things about the books.
- It "saves" your progress when you exit. This seems more like an unintended feature, because when you solve the puzzle, 1 or 2 books are not pushed in. I tried positioning Mario so he would get pulled into the wall by the books but alas, they don't seem to be effective.
- Everything about the books is strange.
