| :I wonder if this should be challenged for removal or a revision to encourage the use of the template rather than make the crop permanent. Ever since the permanent crop rule was first implemented, I HATED it. Now this on-the-fly crop template exists. -- 23:39, April 3, 2025 (EDT)

| ::Sounds like a thing you can pursue! The black-bar removal thing is something I myself am uneasy about, especially given how often UI elements invade them. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:59, April 3, 2025 (EDT)

| Before you upload more sprites, I need to know, is there a reason we will have to document very similar looking variants of an animation, or the animation where the sprite is barely altered? 02:16, March 29, 2025 (EDT) | | Before you upload more sprites, I need to know, is there a reason we will have to document very similar looking variants of an animation, or the animation where the sprite is barely altered? 02:16, March 29, 2025 (EDT) |
| :Because it's not an exact mirror of the animation. I see it as like uploading the close-up "VS screen" Luigi sprites in some sports games (like Strikers, I think) where they're slightly different to keep the "L" consistent, which is also a barely noticeable change. This is also looking forward for the All-Stars versions of those animations, which are more visibly different due to outline shenanigans (the outlines of his feet very often look off due to sharing tiles with the arms due to 8x16 space issues). As for the colors, those are mostly to put on the stage articles (ie a jumping or flying one to be clear which behavior is used, not every Boom Boom of that color). For the record, I have finished with Boom Boom. I must ask though, if we weren't to cover these differences, who would? | Howdy! Out of curiosity, would you be willing to upload static png sprites of Boom Boom and the Koopalings in Super Mario Bros. 3? I thought it would be nice to have those available and would be better for the main article for the game since most other sprites on the page are still. - Nintendo101 (talk) 21:25, March 29, 2025 (EDT)

| :I mean, I suppose I could. I figured the crouched Boom Booms were static enough. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:07, March 29, 2025 (EDT)

| | |
| Howdy, Doc. I hope you've been having a nice weekend. You probably saw, but Lastro recently created the White Block (platform) article. I thought it would be great to have an animated gif of Mario using the platform. I could do that by using a YouTube video, but I don't have the means of making it the right resolution or ensuring the colors are correct. Is this something you might take interest in doing? - Nintendo101 (talk) 10:53, April 6, 2025 (EDT)

| I saw you saying that PNG Monstrous causes lossy compression, and I would like to demonstrate how it does not so that you can use it for your images.

| While this image appears like the colors got changed in the thumbnail, it turns out that this is a bug in the wiki's thumbnail displaying. If you open either Fire Snake image revision in an image editor, you will find that they have identical colors.P-Tux7 (talk) 14:54, April 17, 2025 (EDT)
| |
| :I don't think it consistently does so, but we outright have a template for "please don't optimize this image, it has color-changing metadata." Personally, I don't think it's really necessary for any image that isn't (pardon the accidental pun) monstrously large.
