| Ah, you're right. I was mixing it up in my head with the SMB remix that did have that game's underwater theme, and figured the NSMBW medley would have it too. Thanks for checking. 18:53, March 23, 2025 (EDT) | | Ah, you're right. | Howdy, B700465189a9. I am Nintendo101. I am one of the administrators on the wiki and a major contributor to coverage on the mainline games on the site. I saw you recently created the beacon article. While I appreciate you taking the initiative, please make sure articles are decently thorough before publishing and that distinct subjects are not lumped together. While similar, there was reason why beacons and glowing spots (which I have split off) were not treated as synonyms for the same subject on their respective articles and this reference list I had put together. But even if they were, there is a lot of substantive information from Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Odyssey, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder missing in the article as it was initially published. (For example, the glowing spots in Super Mario Odyssey appears in nearly every kingdom, are tied to Power Moon objects, rumble under Mario's feet, and interact with the dog in the game, but none of this was covered in the article as it was published.) When we publish articles that are missing info, it creates the impression that we do not do our due diligence with research, weakens the quality of our work, and can implicitly make impressions of our site worse than they should be.

| Again, I really do appreciate you making these articles, but please make sure they are adequately robust before publishing. If they are not, then perhaps work on it in your sandbox beforehand or ask for a second opinion. Thank you! - Nintendo101 (talk) 12:35, March 24, 2025 (EDT)

| :I believe splitting the appearance of beacons in Super Mario Bros. Wonder from the object in Super Mario Odyssey is incorrect. (I withdraw the claim that Super Mario 3D World or Bowser's Fury contain beacons, since these do not have the same visual effect.) The images later uploaded to glowing spots represent a different kind of glowing spot with cold white light that, in some cases, changes the shape of terrain when activated. However, the objects used to obtain Power Moons such as "Lost in the Luggage" appear visually identical to the beacons in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which indicates to me that these specific glowing spots were simply loosely named beacons. You mention that there are reasons why you consider them distinct, but you do not explain them.

| :The claim of lack of information is a separate matter, but I believe that the Power Moon attribute was adequately explained in my revision of the article. On the other hand, the splitting of the articles resulted in a loss of information, including not mentioning the previously present fact that Drill Mario would activate beacons. Thank you for investigating this matter! I hope that the wiki can provide a definitive resource for these subjects. | ::We know that the glowing spot in Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario Odyssey are, at minimum, the same thing because the creators of those games call it by the same name in both instances, and Super Mario Odyssey contains the expansion of many concepts first introduced in SM3DW, such as 8-bit characters. Rather than visuals, I think the beacon in Super Mario Bros. Wonder has more varied functions and is generally more ubiquitous in its levels than glowing spots, and this is substantiated by the fact that the people who created this object refer to it be a different name. However, the lack of information is the more important matter. We write the articles so that they can be read by the public, and their quality reflects the site at large. Again, I appreciate the initiative and you did not do anything wrong, but I hope you keep this in mind when you create new articles in the future. - Nintendo101 (talk) 16:29, March 24, 2025 (EDT)
