And it's not: Mario Mario, BTW! Mario has been in almost every career possible... But one stands to prove once again that Mario's name is : Mario Mario, it's title is DR.Mario! Most Doctors have their last name after their title: Doctor. but the point is that DR.Mario is not Mario's Title, it's the title of the game.
This here should clear a few things up, My opinion:

AR-Cade: "Mario's Last name is not made known as of yet. But I believe it will be soon. Although I can personally guarantee that it's not: Mario. Calling Mario : Mario Mario, Would be horrible. And I don't believe Nintendo has a last name for him right now. But he's not: Mario Mario."

 Mario has always been my Fav Nintendo Character but not many people know his story completely. You may say U know as much as u want to know... 

But there's more to Mario's story than U think. And I believe you should hear a bit of my version, that's why I've been writing my short series "Super Mario! Adventures in the Mushroom Kingdom" It's a Fan Fiction story found on my blog and I think U'll like it allot.
So I'll share to You now, my version of Mario's Bio. '''Here''':
Mario was qualified to do many different job's in the Brooklyn USA. But he decided to stick with the family business with Luigi and they launched their company "Mario Bros. Plumbing CO." and worked out of their home office in Brooklyn USA. Where their slogan was, "We won't give up until the job is done."

It wasn't until 3 years into their job that they were the one's summoned by Princess Toadstool (Princess Peach) of the Mushroom Kingdom, to come and help rescue her and her kingdom from domination of the Evil King Bowser. But he didn't just want to kidnap the Princes and Take over her kingdom but he also wanted her hand in Marriage. Her response "NO WAY!" Of course.
Mario succeeded in the rescue of Peach and her kingdom!

The Bros were allowed to leave but decided to 

stay and accepted the Job of being the Princesses personal guards and protectors of her & The Mushroom Kingdom.
