| ==Necessary?==

| This template is redundant to the [[wikipedia:Link|interwiki table]] links (which work perfectly fine and display ''exactly the same'' as this). Is it really necessary to have two ways to link to Wikipedia? {{User:TheDarkStar/sig}} 12:04, October 26, 2019 (EDT)

| :It's slightly less bytes and a bit more intuitive to use in comparison to interwiki links, though there's nothing necessarily implying that interwiki linking is "broken" or that this template is designed to "fix" anything to begin with. --{{User:Lord Grammaticus/sig}} 10:26, October 27, 2019 (EDT)
| |
| ::Considering that this template is already used on thousands of pages, and there's no visual or functional difference between using this or interwiki links, I see no harm to just leave it as is and let the editor pick which way they want to use. --{{User:Waluigi Time/sig}} 13:12, October 27, 2019 (EDT)

| == Interlanguage linking ==
| |
|
| |
| Could someone add a third parameter for interlanguage Wikipedia linking? You'd use it to enter a language's ISO 639-1 code, say "<tt>de</tt>" for German, and the template would adapt the link so it leads you to Wikipedia's article of the subject you're linking to in the language you've entered. Essentially, it would replace the "<tt>wikipedia:</tt>" part of the syntax with "<tt>wikipedia:de:</tt>", as in <tt>[[wikipedia:de:Shigeru Miyamoto|<nowiki>[[</nowiki>wikipedia:de:Shigeru Miyamoto<nowiki>]]</nowiki>]]</tt>. One Super Mario Wiki link that would use the <tt>wp</tt> template with the language code parameter is [[wikipedia:de:Frank Buschmann]], located [[Mario Strikers: Battle League#Promotion|here]], the subject of which currently has no corresponding English Wikipedia article. {{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}} 18:09, May 23, 2022 (EDT)
