Quite recently this template has been put on articles just because there are no sources on them, including articles such as Ditto and Spiky Skellobait that don't actually need sources for any of their content as they are easily viewable in-game. For this proposal I'm proposing two options:

#Hewer This template is copied verbatim from Wikipedia, which is strange since this wiki needs far fewer citations than Wikipedia does, and only needs them in specific circumstances where the information is hard to verify. So this template should only be used if the citation-needing information can actually be specified.

#Mario Strongly oppose deletion. This template is necessary for some pages that need sources and lack them all together, especially for real life living subjects with pages of significant length. Deanna Mustard absolutely needs this template since all of the article concerning a living person is not sourced (which we actually need to address this) and would be cumbersome to stick ref needed everywhere on the page. We should specify it sure if it there's confusion, but don't delete.
#Nintendo101 Per above.
#ThePowerPlayer Per Mario. This template is better to cover the contents of an entire article, as opposed to using ref needed for individual tidbits.

"what exactly needs references must be specified in the template when putting it in the article"; Deanna Mustard is an entire page that needs it, hence the use for this template, but I don't think it requires a reason. We may have large swaths of articles or sections on more real-life subjects that may need this template. I would say keep this template for that kind of thing, even if it's not common on the wiki to have this problem. 18:29, April 18, 2024 (EDT)
:Then that can be what's specified for those articles and sections. Something along the lines of "article about a living person without any sources" would probably do. It may be a little self-explanatory, but I still feel like it's worth it for the same reason we don't generally allow drive-by templating without specifying reasons anymore. 16:06, April 20, 2024 (EDT)
