Fandom launched in 2016 and Wikia was fully phasing out from 2018 to 2021. I was wondering if we could move the template "Wikia" to "Fandom".

#{{User|Arend}} I mean, the name "Wikia" ''has'' fallen out of use ever since it was renamed to FANDOM, so it makes sense. If there's an opposition to keep the template name, at least make {{Fake link|Template:Fandom}} a redirect?
#{{User|RealStuffMister}} per proposal.
#{{User|Camwoodstock}} In the perfect world, the Wikia template would not need to exist as everyone would be able to easily bail on FANDOM's terrible management to have independent wikis. ...Until that day arrives, though, we can probably bear to update the template's name to be more reflective of the site's name post-rebranding. The most tedious part would simply be setting up a wiki bot to convert the templates, no joke.

#{{User|PnnyCrygr}} Wikia is the more known name for such fan wikis, so we will retain the Wikia name. Besides, wouldn't moving the template create countless red links? My opposition.
#{{User|SeanWheeler}} I never really agreed with the rebranding. They changed a name as unique as "Wikia" to a generic name FANDOM? Fandom is a synonym for fanbase. You can argue that we're a Mario fandom despite not being a part of that site. Bulbapedia had a [[bulbapedia:Bulbapedia:Project Fandom|Project FANDOM]] long before Wikia rebranded themselves. Meanwhile, Wikia while not being use so much anymore is still a term exclusive to them, and has the word "wiki" in it to explain that it's a wiki farm.
<s>#{{User|LinkTheLefty}} I don't really see the point with changing wiki-code over this; the <s>current</s> name is more concise/specific and, in my experience, Fandom wikis are still colloquially known as wikias.</s>

@PnnyCrygr: Moving a page will result in the old name automatically becoming a redirect to the new name, so by default, moving a page does not create countless of red links. While it is possible for certain user groups (e.g. patrollers and administrators) to choose to not create a redirect from the old name when moving a page, regular users don't have that choice, so when they move a page, it'll never cause lots of red links.<br>Also, Fandom hasn't called any of the Wikis they host "Wikias" in a long time anymore, and yo be honest, I haven't seen the name "Wikia" for a while either. I won't say that no one uses that name anymore, but it's a bit of an artifact in the current day. {{User:Arend/sig}} 13:09, May 6, 2023 (EDT)
:Also, there's a bot on the wiki that can automatically replace a given string of characters. {{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}} 13:27, May 6, 2023 (EDT)
== Decide whether to add the language parameter and/or change back to the interwiki link template ==

{{Proposal outcome|passed|1-0-4-0|Add language only}}
I just saw that the <code><nowiki>[[wikia:c:<wiki>:<page>|<page/text>]]</nowiki></code> interwiki link has been fixed. That way, editors of the Super Mario Wiki who are also Fandom users will no longer be taken to the "Not a valid community" message, instead going to a page within a Fandom community. This time, you might be wondering whether or not how the template can be changed back to the interwiki template. There are four of the following options to choose from:

Which option do you wish to choose?
'''Proposer''': {{User|GuntherBB}}<br>

===Option #1===
#{{User|GuntherBB}} My perferred option.
===Option #2===
===Option #3===
#{{User|Koopa con Carne}} There may be multiple wiki forks on the same subject and in the same language, so having an option that allows one to differentiate between these forks seems preferable to me. (I switched my vote from Option #4 since that would entail removing the useful language parameter.)
#{{User|Hewer}} Per KCC, I don't understand the benefit of the interwiki link that would seemingly just make the template more limited.
#{{User|MegaBowser64}} I didn't consider option 3 when voting, the language parameter would obviously be useful and there's no reason not to add it. Per all.
#{{User|Power Flotzo}} Per all.
===Option #4===
<s>#{{User|Power Flotzo}} This kinda feels unnecessary at best.</s>
<s>#{{User|MegaBowser64}} Per Power Flotzo and my comment below.</s>
===Comments===
Just saying, but the skeleton for Option #2 appears to be exactly the same as that of Option #1. I don't think that's supposed to be the case.<br>Also, Options #1 and #3 appear to show [https://bobesponja.fandom.com/wiki/Stephen_Hillenburg completely] [https://spongebob.fandom.com/es/wiki/Stephen_Hillenburg different] Spanish SpongeBob wikis for the Stephen Hillenburg page, for some reason...? {{User:Arend/sig}} 15:16, March 9, 2024 (EST)
I added the language param (that doesn't need a proposal, you can just ask for that). Regarding switching back to interwiki: FANDOM broke their redirect system in the past, and we have no way of knowing if and when it will break again in the future, so I think using the URL is the more stable solution. --{{User:Porplemontage/sig}} 15:38, March 9, 2024 (EST)
:I made a [https://support.fandom.com/hc/en-us/requests/1300977 request] to merge from [https://bobesponja.fandom.com/ Bob Esponja Wiki] to [https://spongebob.fandom.com/es Wiki Bob Esponja]. By the way, if you know how to fix the FANDOM interwiki link, then maybe you should fix the URL for the interwiki link to <nowiki>[[wikia:c:<l>.<wiki>]]</nowiki> to <nowiki>https://<wiki>.fandom.com/<l></nowiki>; for example, you should change the URL for the <nowiki>[[wikia:c:es.spongebob:Stephen Hillenburg]]</nowiki> to <nowiki>https://spongebob.fandom.com/es/wiki/Stephen_Hillenburg</nowiki>. Thanks! --{{User:GuntherBB/sig}} 16:57, March 9, 2024 (EST)
::The URL that the interwiki link generates is this: <code><nowiki>https://community.fandom.com/wiki/c:es.spongebob:Stephen_Hillenburg</nowiki></code>. It's totally up to FANDOM which wiki that URL redirects to. Constructing the URL manually allows us to actually choose between bobesponja vs. spongebob/es. --{{User:Porplemontage/sig}} 17:48, March 9, 2024 (EST)
::Wait, Gunther, are you saying that you requested for [https://bobesponja.fandom.com/ Bob Esponja] to be merged TO [https://spongebob.fandom.com/es SpongeBob/es]?! But the former wiki is clearly much larger, more developed, and nicer looking than the latter! Shouldn't SpongeBob/es be the wiki that's to be merged to Bob Esponja instead? <s>Also I cannot access the URL of your request to Fandom; when I try to visit it, it instead says that the page doesn't exist.</s> {{User:Arend/sig}} 19:42, March 9, 2024 (EST)
:::oh dear. Yeah the smaller wiki should be merged to the bigger wiki [[File:Bowsersm64.png|35px]] [[User:MegaBowser64|MegaBowser64]] ([[User talk:MegaBowser64|talk]]) [[File:BowserNSMBU.png|35px]] 20:59, March 9, 2024 (EST)
::::Maybe Option #1 would be my preferred option. {{User:GuntherBB/sig}} 19:54, March 12, 2024 (EDT)
:::::Why say this as if you weren't certain which option to vote for until then, when [https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Template_talk:Fandom&diff=4158613&oldid=3918291 you were already voting for that option from the very beginning, when you made this proposal?] Like, even without the "maybe", what's the point of saying "Option #1 would be my preferred option" days after already voting for said option? {{User:Arend/sig}} 14:36, March 22, 2024 (EDT)
{{@|Arend|MegaBowser64}} Which option will you choose? I'd choose Option #1. {{User:GuntherBB/sig}} 10:09, March 19, 2024 (EDT)
:Personally I'm in favor of option 4. We've already got the language parameter sorted out, and as Porple said, the current URL solution is more stable than interwiki, so I don't think we need to change anything. [[File:Bowsersm64.png|35px]] [[User:MegaBowser64|MegaBowser64]] ([[User talk:MegaBowser64|talk]]) [[File:BowserNSMBU.png|35px]] 11:44, March 19, 2024 (EDT)
::Not unless we ask Porplemontage to change the interwiki link from <code><nowiki>https://community.fandom.com/wiki/c:<wiki>:<page></nowiki></code> to <code><nowiki>https://<wiki>.fandom.com/wiki/<page></nowiki></code>. {{User:GuntherBB/sig}} 13:29, March 21, 2024 (EDT)
:::Forgive me for asking because I'm not very good with code, but wouldn't that just change it from URL to an interwiki link? Again, Porple said Fandom's interwiki has had problems in the past. [[File:Bowsersm64.png|35px]] [[User:MegaBowser64|MegaBowser64]] ([[User talk:MegaBowser64|talk]]) [[File:BowserNSMBU.png|35px]] 18:17, March 21, 2024 (EDT)
::::The problem was already fixed one or more years ago. Just as I researched, <code><nowiki>[[wikia:c:spongebob:Bikini Bottom|Bikini Bottom]]</nowiki></code> takes you {{plain link|[https://spongebob.fandom.com/wiki/Bikini_Bottom here]}}. {{User:GuntherBB/sig}} 12:19, March 22, 2024 (EDT)
:I'm abstaining from voting. Normally, I prefer interwiki linking (as can be seen with [[MarioWiki:Proposals/Archive/65#Create interwiki link for RayWiki|this proposal]]), but the fact that with the current code for this template, it's somehow possible to link to ''two'' different Spanish SpongeBob wikis (even if one is ''extremely'' underdeveloped), whereas this isn't possible with your proposed code no matter how you differentiate it, I'm not really inclined to support anything.<br>Also, no one is forced to vote for an option, even if they're joining in the conversation, so I'd appreciate it if I'm not being pressed into voting for something. {{User:Arend/sig}} 14:36, March 22, 2024 (EDT)
Hey {{@|Porplemontage}} Fandom's interwiki link was already fixed one or more years ago to become more stable. Just as I researched, <code><nowiki>[[wikia:c:nintendo:Nintendo Video|Nintendo Video]]</nowiki></code> takes you {{plain link|[https://nintendo.fandom.com/wiki/Nintendo_Video here]}}. I think changing the URL back to Fandom's interwiki link would probably be a great idea, since that interwiki link was already fixed. {{User:GuntherBB/sig}} 12:45, March 22, 2024 (EDT)
'''Current template''': {{fandom|l=es|spongebob|Stephen Hillenburg|es.spongebob:Stephen Hillenburg}}, {{fandom|bobesponja|Stephen Hillenburg|bobesponja:Stephen Hillenburg}}
'''Interwiki links''': [[wikia:c:es.spongebob:Stephen Hillenburg]], [[wikia:c:bobesponja:Stephen Hillenburg]]
As has already been discussed, the two interwiki links go to bobesponja. Using the current template, we can differentiate between them. Using interwiki links, we cannot. If we switched the template to interwiki links, how would we link to {{fandom|l=es|spongebob|Stephen Hillenburg|es.spongebob:Stephen Hillenburg}}? Switching to interwiki cedes control of the URL destination from us to FANDOM. --{{User:Porplemontage/sig}} 13:26, March 22, 2024 (EDT)
Reminder that Porplemontage [https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Template%3AFandom&type=revision&diff=4158675&oldid=4006146 has already added the language parameter during the beginning of the proposal], so technically, Option 3 would be the most beneficial if you don't want any changes made to the template (since, y'know, the addition that Option 3 proposes has already been added, meaning that Option 4 proposes the ''removal'' of said addition). {{User:Arend/sig}} 16:25, March 22, 2024 (EDT)
