:It's more of a tool to let admins track down things that need deleting, but I suppose a link wouldn't hurt, especially if it's colour-linked to be black so it doesn't stick out and clash with the greyscale motif of the template. - {{User:Walkazo/sig}} 11:29, 12 January 2012 (EST)

::I thought I explained because there was a parameter that can be used but is not documented. There is just no documentation how to use the template. {{tem|delete-request}} also has this issue. Many templates we use regularly have no documentation and related templates. {{tem|reminder}} and {{tem|rewrite}} do what {{tem|delete}} don't. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 19:23, 1 August 2016 (EDT)

:::I don't see the harm in providing a usage section in noinclude tags, but overall, it's not wholly necessary, especially since there is only one parameter you can modify in a lot of these. {{User:Bazooka Mario/sig}} 19:28, 1 August 2016 (EDT)

::::::I'm starting to get the feeling that we need an overhaul how we list and document each template. I mean we have game templates ({{tem|SMG}} and {{tem|YI}}), so why not do this for templates? A template for listing templates and we transclude that template into documentation <nowiki><noinclude></nowiki> sections. A deviation of {{tem|MarioWiki}}. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 20:03, 1 August 2016 (EDT)
I've added it's usage. If people are fine by the information and how it's worded, this could be marked as resolved.

== A clarification  ==
Below the "please delete any corresponding talk pages as well", can we put down Remember to check [[Special:WhatLinksHere|What Links Here]] and the page history before deleting so like if it's a new stub or something, users could help improve the page. {{User:The RPG Gamer/sig}} 16:02, 16 November 2016 (EST)
:That sounds like a great plan. If many pages link to the page in question and people forget to fix those soon-to-be-red links, it could make several pages look messy.

=="Please delete any corresponding talk pages as well"==
Since my proposal to make a separate template that has the opposite message failed, can we just change this to say "If the talk page creates a redirect, delete it as well"? That way, we won't lose any potentially-important talk pages for deleted articles and categories, as has [[Category talk:Major Races|occasionally happened]] [[Category talk:Characters who have kissed Mario|in the past]]. (Also, anyone with the power to do so able to restore those, or is there some long-exceeded time limit for that?) [[User:Doc von Schmeltwick|Doc von Schmeltwick]] ([[User talk:Doc von Schmeltwick|talk]]) 02:16, 20 December 2017 (EST)
:Seconded, though I think it should say "If the talk page creates a ''broken'' redirect, delete it as well", since it seems the concern was talk page redirects showing up in WantedPages? I can't really think of any other reason why someone would want talk pages deleted if the main page got deleted. In any case, the current text is misleading. [[User:ShadeTempest|ShadeTempest]] ([[User talk:ShadeTempest|talk]]) 02:26, September 7, 2019 (EDT)
::Agreed. I really don't see any reason for potentially-important talk pages to be deleted. {{User:TheDarkStar/sig}} 16:36, October 6, 2019 (EDT)
:I really don't think a proposal's needed, since most talk pages have been kept if they're pertinent to their parent pages' deletion in my experience. --{{User:Lord Grammaticus/sig}} 16:47, October 6, 2019 (EDT)
:::coming from what alex, glowsquid, and JC have told me (a lot): Talk pages when being moved for names only should delete the talk page if it's forum speak. Otherwise it stays. As for straight up file removal, the talk goes unless it had a talk page proposal on it. [[User:Trig Jegman|Trig]] - 17:05, October 6, 2019 (EDT)
