Can this template be renamed to "file info"? I don't like how the two words of "aboutfile" are squished together, and "info" feels like a more suitable word than "about." The latter word, about, makes it sound as if it is giving information about the file, like metadata, while "info" gives a more clear description about the file and additional details about it that may not be obvious just from looking at it. :We think the name "about file" is fine, though admittedly, it and "file info" are pretty much synonyms, and it mostly comes down to personal preference. The big one to us, aside from the inevitable problem of "oh, renaming a template ''this used'' is going to be a '''nightmare''' to enact" is that "fileinfo" looks a lot more confusing when put together than "aboutfile" does; there are a few letters in common there that "aboutfile" doesn't have. {{User:Camwoodstock/sig}} 16:36, January 23, 2025 (EST) | :We think the name "about file" is fine, though admittedly, it and "file info" are pretty much synonyms, and it mostly comes down to personal preference. ::The name is common practice, doesn't appear to have serious issues, and it would just be a headache to rename for minor semantics. {{User:Mario/sig}} 16:39, January 24, 2025 (EST) | ::The name is common practice, doesn't appear to have serious issues, and it would just be a headache to rename for minor semantics. {{User:Mario/sig}} 16:39, January 24, 2025 (EST) | ||
:::If it ain't broke, don't fix it - I don't see a need to rename commonly used templates like this unless there's a serious issue with the current name. --{{User:Waluigi Time/sig}} 16:45, January 24, 2025 (EST) | :::If it ain't broke, don't fix it - I don't see a need to rename commonly used templates like this unless there's a serious issue with the current name. --{{User:Waluigi Time/sig}} 16:45, January 24, 2025 (EST) |
