You're working backwards from your conclusion here that the island from Yoshi's Island is definitely based on the one from Super Mario World, which is most likely not the case judging from their intended names given to them by their creators, like KOOPA CON CARNE said above. Also, you guys keep saying that it "has the same name" when it doesn't; the "same name" was added after the fact by the localization team. That's part of the whole issue.
