So "Yo'ster Isle" is another one of those inconsistent translations according to the trivia. Then it should be merged with Yoshi's Island (location). There seem to be quite a few inconsistencies in SMRPG (how could they name Cheep-Cheep "Goby"?). --Grandy02 12:34, 17 January 2010 (EST)

:I believe this exact discussion has happened time and time again. I both support the merge, but also oppose it because there's quite a bit of info here that could stand on its own. I'll wait until others that have been here longer (and were involved in those discussion) become involved. Feel free to set up a merge proposal template, though. ::How is the information being able to stand on its own a reason not to merge these? I'm sure a lot of articles have sections that could theoretically stand on their own and we still don't split them because of that. All the information from this article would fit in well in the Yoshi's Island (location) article, as a section on its appearance in Super Mario RPG; in fact, the article already has this section, mentioning that Yo'ster Island is simply the name used for Yoshi's Island in SMRPG. Since the Japanese name is indeed the same for both (ヨースター島), I would definitely agree with a merge, since this appears to be no more than a mistranslation, and we merged Shy Away with Beezo and Goby with Cheep-Cheep as well.--vellidragon 13:47, 19 January 2010 (EST)

:::I fully agree. All information can be transferred. And even when the island is called "Yoshi's Island" in English, the place's appearance changes more or less throughout the series, yet it's still all in one article. The same can be said about many other places in the Mario universe. --Grandy02 13:57, 19 January 2010 (EST)

:That's true; however, we can't cover Magikoopa and Kamek in the same article since the former article covers the enemy type while the latter covers the one particular Magikoopa who appears as a character in some games. We cover Yoshi and Yoshi (species) or Birdo and Birdo (species) seperately as well (and they have the same name even in English), as one covers a particular recurring member of a species and the other covers their species. Kamek & Magikoopa being seperate articles appears to follow the same logic, they would likely be seperate even if they had the same name in English as well. Yo'ster Island and Yoshi's Island can be the same island because both names refer to a singular location. Magikoopa and Kamek cannot be "the same person" because the former does not normally refer to an individual character while the latter does.--vellidragon 12:53, 10 March 2010 (EST)

Yeah, but Yoshis don't only live in Yoshi Island! They also live in Lavalava Island!
:And what does that have to do with our discussion?
I was just answering vellidragon. He said that Yoshi live in Yoster island and yoshi island so they should be merged.
:I'm not a he :3 And I wasn't implying Yoshis only live on Yoshi's Island/Yo'ster Island and that they should be merged solely because "both" are inhabited by Yoshis. I was just emphasising that both the island translated as "Yoshi's Island" and the island translated as "Yo'ster Island" follow one and the same concept in addition to having the exact same name in Japanese. It's those two things (same concept + same name) coming together that make me recognise them as one and the same thing and support the merge. Sorry if that wasn't clear from my comment above :\ --vellidragon 11:04, 22 March 2010 (EDT)
Yeah, maybe they should be merged after all. And,yeah, sorry about that "he" thing.
