According to Wikipedia, mahjong can be written as mahjong, mahjongg, mah-jong, mah-jongg, mah jong, mah jongg or even majiang. We should decide which spelling to use and apply it to the wiki overall. - 06:44, 6 October 2007 (EDT)

:Mahjong. It's the most used name. Paper Jorge! I give paper cuts so stand back! I think.

The characters only seem to be from Mario and its spin-offs (Donkey Kong and Wario), so I don't see how this game relates to Super Smash Bros., is there some in-game references other than characters, or is the information on the page incorrect? - Walkazo

yakuman player?
in brawl there is a sticker named yakuman player. why isn't he mentioned in the article and who is he? Lu-igi board
HELLO!!? Lu-igi board
:Yakuman DS is one of many titles in the Yakuman series.  Yakuman DS is the first to include Mario characters.  I would speculate that Yakuman player was a generic guy replaced by the Mario characters in this version.  Therefore, he is, as far as I know, not having seen Yakuman player in screens and videos for YDS, that he falls out of our range of coverage, and therefore he is not mentioned on the Wiki. 16:08, 1 February 2009 (EST)
::The Yakuman Player is from the Game Boy game Yakuman released in 1989 in Japan . This game isn't Mario-themed, so the player isn't relevant for the article, but it might be worth mentioning that Yakuman DS isn't the first mahjong game by Nintendo, there are quite a few. By the way, I noticed that a Wikipedia author had stolen the article in February this year (no mentioning of Super Mario Wiki). The Wikipedia article is pretty much identical. --Grandy02 07:59, 5 March 2009 (EST)
:::Ha - our sourcing policy is different from theirs, so anything they <s>steal</s> share from us is going to be considered bad writing for them. 15:10, 5 March 2009 (EST)
Additional unlockable playable characters?
Are all of those characters really unlockable for play? How? As far as I've figured out I can't, and the Japanese Wikipedia article places all of the "unlockable" characters firmly in the "non-playable" category and lists Toad as an additional playable character instead. ==Crossover?==
On the Mario (franchise) article, it lists this game as a crossover game. But if it was a crossover, there would need to be another franchise, no?
:As stated above on this very talk page, there are other Yakuman games without Mario characters, so I suppose the other franchise would be Yakuman.--vellidragon 09:54, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
::Yakuman is a common term in Japanese mahjong rules as far as I know, though, and there are several games bearing the Yakuman name that were not made by Nintendo. I'm not sure, but wouldn't it almost be like saying that Mario Tennis is a crossover between the Mario and Tennis series because it is a tennis game? --Grandy02 19:51, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
