| :The Cargo Truck has made more appearances than the Dash Panel Ramp Truck, which has only appeared in MK8/Deluxe, and most players would no doubt identify it as simply a "truck", so it should stay as a redirect. 07:02, 6 December 2017 (EST)

| :::Pickup trucks are trucks but not cargo trucks, and "truck" can also be used to describe Minecarts. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 08:59, 7 December 2017 (EST)

| So my proposal to merge the various generic "traffic" vehicles failed due to them having different sizes and properties. The problem is this page covers two very distinct subjects (both in-game and real life) whose only links are being traffic vehicles and having the same generic name in English parlance. Both "cargo truck" (the big tractor-trailer ones) and "pickup truck" (the small bedded ones) have been used in official capacities for the Mario versions, so if that's reason to split those others, these should too for consistency.

| #ThePowerPlayer Just like my argument in the previous proposal, cargo trucks and pickup trucks have very distinct appearances and functions from each other. The last line of the opening to the article specifically highlights the differences of a pickup truck, strongly suggesting that they should be split.

| #Camwoodstock Seems only fair that if we kept the other road vehicles split, we should split the trucks.

| #Ahemtoday I'm still not convinced cars and trucks and buses being split makes much sense, let alone something like this.

| Are there pickup trucks that don't have the surfboards (the piranha plant ones are styled after the surfboard ones)? 13:24, September 7, 2024 (EDT)

| :All the trucks in the Wuhu areas are pickup trucks. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:58, September 7, 2024 (EDT)

| Might be worth pointing out that cargo trucks are distinguished from the other trucks seemingly only in paratext. Mario Kart Tour calls both pickup and cargo trucks, "Trucks". 15:21, September 7, 2024 (EDT)

| :In that case, the articles post-potential split could be named "Truck (pickup)" and "Truck (cargo)". 15:24, September 7, 2024 (EDT)
