::::::::::Simple: the Marios were originally created as people from a real-life location (New York) with roots from a real-life place (Italy), before retconing in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island that they are actually native from the Mushroom Kingdom and that the "New York" they were talking about in previous games was either New Donk City, Big Ape City and/or Big-City. Before that, of course the "Real World humans" (such as Stanley) would have normal realistic names, while the "aliens of the Mushroom World" (such as Peach Toadstool) would have unusual/fantastical names, which most of them derives from a Japanese rework of actual names or from real-life names (there are people called "Peaches" and I do know that "Bowser" is a pet-name for dogs and we do know a guy that has "Bowser" as a surname). 18:25, December 9, 2024 (EST) | ::::::::::Simple: the Marios were originally created as people from a real-life location (New York) with roots from a real-life place (Italy), before retconing in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island that they are actually native from the Mushroom Kingdom and that the "New York" they were talking about in previous games was either New Donk City, Big Ape City and/or Big-City. I think you're talking this "Mama Mia Mario is her full name" thing a bit too literally. I think it'd make more sense to treat the "Mama" part as a title rather than as her first name (y'know, because you tend to call your own parents things such as "mama", "papa", "mom", "dad", "mum", "pops", etc, rather than their actual first name). It's like how Peach's full name is "Princess Peach Toadstool"; "Princess" is her title. If we're treating the "Mama" in Mama Mia Mario's name as her actual first name instead of a title, then by that logic, Peach's first name should be "Princess" instead. 15:52, December 9, 2024 (EST) | I think you're talking this "Mama Mia Mario is her full name" thing a bit too literally.
